Yummy Garden — Restaurant in Barre

My fiancé and I go here all the time. It’s our close to home “date” spot. The last 6 times we have gone have been HORRIBLE service. There was ONE time we had to send rice back because it was a bit cold, and even took our plate, in front of us begins talking to someone else that worked here, and kept feeling the bottom of the plate laughing, speaking in their native laungage (yes that’s completely fine, but when you make it clear that you’re mocking us it’s intirely innapropreate) and ever since have gotten attitude. Today we come in and no one is there. Alright. Then while we wait for someone we wait 10 minutes until she even comes to ask what we would like, AFTER her phone going off the entire time, then goes to take our order, walks away, answers her phone, then proceeds to put it on speaker and neglect to take our order. After taking our order normally we don’t even see her again until we ask for the check because she just sits there, on her phone the entire time. Then when we refuse to tip her, gives us attitude. We say have a great day her response is “Yep”. I have never been to a restaurant that treated customers let alone regulars with such disrespect and service. Half the time if we even wanted to get someone’s attention we can’t because they are ALL in the back talking and laughing. Yes their food is good, but the service is terrible. It’d be one thing to say it was just a bad day for yummys employees, but this has happened every time, for the last SIX...

My family has been ordering from them for years, but we can't anymore. We just can no longer get past how unpleasant and disrespectful the woman who works the phone and register is. I used to be able to excuse until a mistake was made on my order, which unfortunately I couldn't understand when she read it back to me over the phone because of her accent (I already asked her to repeat herself two times) and when she gave me an additional charge that I did not want, I asked if there was some way that it could be rectified.

She gave me the heaviest eye-roll I've ever seen and proceeded to take money out of the till, after seeing how she reacted this way I let her know that if it's such a problem then I will take the food instead. They proceeded to walk out of the building she shouted something angrily in Mandarin towards my direction. I couldn't make out exactly what she was saying, from the few terms and phrases I know in Mandarin I could only make out the term "white boy".

Suffice to say we have no intention to ever order from them again. And looking back on it it's not a loss. The food was always overcooked and I'm not quite sure how a single order of sesame chicken, chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, fried rice, chicken fingers, and two egg rolls can amass $70 in a single...

Wow, I'm very surprised at some of these negative reviews of such a great restaurant! Please ignore, just try them & see for yourself! Some people are simply never happy. Yummy Garden has excellent service, fair prices & delicious food, they've been in business for many years, and a favorite amongst locals, so that should say something. I first tried them in the early 2000's, they were good then & still good now! We ordered pork fried rice, chicken lo mein & chicken fingers (007) on our most recent takeout order & everything was top notch taste & freshness. Nothing was under or over cooked & they did a perfect job with accuracy, remembering our extra soy & duck sauces. They have a wide variety of different selections on their menu too, so something for everyone. Yummy Garden does not disappoint & I would certainly recommend them for anyone who is interested in quality Chinese food. To be honest, many area restaurants that also serve Chinese are pretty undesirable, same cannot be said here though! I'm actually wondering if the lousy reviews were meant for another place? I've never had a bad meal here, or otherwise poor experience with Yummy Garden. We've dined in & ordered take out before....
