As of June Sunday, 06-23-2024 (Bad Medicine played) - 4 Stars for Effort and Ambiance. Food, Service, Atmosphere rated individually. 2 Stars for food, because no set prices are offered, which queries if that is for the purpose of altering prices at will & per, say, the event. Drinks are way high, and especially for the size. Shot girls walked around with $3.99 shots, in small test tubes & other 1 oz vessels. What's that?! I am a former model, so, I've been a promotional "Shot Girl." They were likely venue employees, but whenever I'd been a "Shot or Drinks Girl," that has been for free or specially priced drink items, for promotion. $3.99 is a very special HIGH price. Service receives 1 Star for being non-existent. Only once an employee sat some, certain, people in what had been the closed booths, had I seen a server serve them. My party went to the concession stand for our service, and we'd been sitting two feet across from the both that was sat. the young employees seem nonchalant, which can be alright for a light vibe and atmosphere. It can also seem non-caring, unprofessional, and not ready to be working. Atmosphere, for Sunday, 6-23, anyway, gets 3 stars, for booths being closed and poor quality or lack of service. The atmosphere and vibe are similar to Renaissance Faire, which I like; but they, too, have much over-priced F & B, among their other merchandise. They also have areas of poor service and an air of unwelcoming, as it seemed to be at Hideaway, on Sunday, 06/23. I've been there several times, but for nighttime concerts on a weekday and on the weekend (Friday and Saturday). Being night time & crowded provides for a bit of oversight and some leeway.
PREVIOUSLY: Addendum -- 2 Stars, but my written review was complete before I realized that only 2 stars are appropriate, from my viewpoint. Read the review for reasoning and rationale. -- This event and the entertainment for Saturday, May 7, which had been the band, 7th Heaven, seemed fine, for having been its debut re-opening, after having been closed for a couple of years or so, due to the pandemic. 3 stars are for the lack of communicative effort, between the group's organizer(s) and the band. The conflicting time caused me to arrive nearly one hour past the start of the entertainment. That was irritating. I am not the type to rush to grab food and beverages simply for being available, and especially not in a hurried situation. As a result of conflicting beginning times, for the entertainment, between the event coordinators and the band, I was unable to really get to know the event, stroll the grounds/area upon which the event sits, or discover and compare the food and/or liquor vendors. As such, I have no assessment to make. I could not really rely completely on 7th Heaven's Posted time, to its Web Site, because there have been several incidents of miscommunicated show times, between the band and the event, since last year, when events really began to re-open more. 7H is typically organized and professional, but fool me once... as they say. The event was just re-opening and had even cancelled its two opening events for during last week, so I have to make a judgment call, but that is not to say that 7H is always blameless, in such cases. Either way and regardless, I was irritated and annoyed for having missed half of the band's show, plus I had not been able to see the event, due to the conflicting times so I give 3 stars. I was going to give 2 stars, because I cannot be certain that 3 stars were earned, for that day of the event. The event, overall, warrants at least 2 stars, for its being, and for the efforts involved. I gave 3 stars because it seemed to be fairly well-organized. The stage, plus the direct area of seating and standing, in front of and in line with the stage, are small and confined. That toggles my opinion between 2 and 3 stars, too.
2 Stars -- Actually, I just thought about the fact that COVID-19 safety practices had been remised. My teeter has tottered to two stars for the Saturday night event, with 7H as the music...
Read moreYou Gotta Check out the Hideaway.....The Hideaway Brew Garden is a hidden gem in Hoffman Estates. It is a large outdoor area with a built-in bar, bathrooms, stage for live music and various public or private seating options. They offer a great selection of adult beverages and a good selection of restaurant quality food. One of the best things about the Hideaway is that it is child and dog friendly so you can bring the whole family to see a show.
Getting to the Hideaway can be a little confusing if it is your first time going without someone who has already been there. My advice is to set your GPS to take you to the Tate & Lyle offices at 5450 Prairie Stone Pkwy, Hoffman Estates since this will bring you to where you can park for free and find the walking path that takes you to the Hideaway. Once you park in the Tate & Lyle parking lot, there is a pathway on the right side of building that goes over a bridge to the Hideaway Brew Garden.
The Hideaway opens at 6:00 pm and we got there early enough that we were able to get one of the table benches that seat 8 people close to the stage. They offer several options if you want to rent a private space for your party including small "huts", themed trailers and some large closed off areas. This is an open air venue with a the area closest to the stage where the ground is covered by wood chips then there is the lawn area where you can bring your own blanket and chairs. There are paved pathways and a permanent structure with the bar and restrooms. They also have some porta-potties if the regular bathrooms get to crowded. For those who smoke, they do allow smoking just outside the main area. We had a great time watching the band and enjoyed the food and drink. It was really nice having our 17 year-olds join us...
Read moreThis place helped us make the most of our memories at the tail-end of summer night. It was our 2nd time back at the Hideaway Brew Garden to see one of our favorite local bands "Run Forest Run" featuring Isabella Snow for the night who was simply amazing.
It was fun to share this night with the family, snacking on Oreo Churros and dancing to some blasts from the past. Hideaway Brew Garden was the perfect venue to start the weekend and getting our kids acquainted to music and dancing with us. Perfect for couple dates, friends gatherings and family get togethers too. We brought our own seats and chilled out. What I love most about this place is there is no cover or entrance free. They also have some amazing-looking spaces for reservations as well.
This night we finally redeemed ourselves from the rain pour on the first round (which bad luck ensued twice for both times featuring Taylor Swift nights, one due to power outage and next time closed early due to inclement weather). We will...
