I visited sugar and ice today for the first and last time today. I work for a business in Barrington and a very kind client gave the staff a gift certificate last week. Today we attempted to use the gift certificate and I was met with extreme hostility from the owner. I understand it is the end of the season and lots of flavors might be sold out etc. The gift certificate was for 100$ which is a lot of ice cream. The staff decided to make it simple and buy a bunch of pints. The young girl who was initially waiting on me was very polite, but told me a lot of pints were sold out, gave me a list of available ones. Picked several then was just going to order s bunch of large ice creams. The girl stated maybe she could just do some pints up , but needed to check with the owner so she didn’t get “angry”. Next thing I know a very angry woman is telling me it’s too late in the season for pints. Ok how would you like me yo use the certificate that was purchased last week. You could get a couple ice cream cakes ok great do you have 2. No will have to order and pick up next week and “ that offer is good for exactly one hour, then I’m shutting off the machine and that’s it I’m done “ what?? Ok can we just save the certificate for next season? “ I guess so, but I would prefer you use it now!” Ok so I’m supposed to spend 100$, but you can only make me 2 cakes totaling 70$ For next week? At this point there’s a line behind me, I’m feeling embarrassed, decided to just leave with no ice cream. My feeling is if you can’t or won’t honor a large gift certificate at the end of the season, then don’t sell them. I feel that the customer service was awful. I...
Read moreA perfect place to stop after a long, hot day! My sister and I had a work day in the yard and decided to have ice cream for dinner. Being adults we could do this. We went to Sugar and Ice just as the sun was going down. They offer an eclectic variety of home-made ice creams, that are richly satisfying. I ordered the Brownie Sundae,: home-made brownies, home-made hot fudge, and home-made whipped cream. The small portion comes with 2 scoops of ice cream, so I opted for the Seaside Caramel and Strawberry Fields. I do not even know what my sister ordered. The sundae was delicious! The whipped cream was lofted up top and was not over whipped, the brownie was moist with a light crisp top and the fudge was smooth, think and rich. The ice cream was perfect, however the service was even better. We had arrived near the end of the day and there were two families a head of us. When it was our turn at the window we were met with a young lady who smiled, and provided us with answers to all our questions about the ice cream. Throughout the whole engagement she was pleasant and indulgent, which added to the whole experience. It is definitely my favorite place to go when I want to...

Farm fresh, bespoke, gourmet, sweet cream, you name it.. I've tried a bite or two. What this place offers though is smooth delicious unusual flavors that make me come back again and again.
