So stupid me once again FORGOT ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WHEN THE REVIEW WAS WRITTEN BELOW AND I STOPPED BY AGAIN ON FRIDAY 9-5-25. Captain Joe’s has a very good salad bar and I was craving some so bad. Once again I walk in and wait a good 10 minutes and finally justify I need to be seated. So a waitress gets a menu and seats me. So I am starving so I get a bowl and get a few things. I returned and my placemat and menu had been snatched up. So I asked 1-2 waitresses who knew nothing. So I just simply walked out. I will train my brain not to stop at this dump place ever again, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT TIME. Captain Joe’s will not lose any money from me anymore! If I would have had a friend with me this would not have happened. So no more Captain Joe’s for me ever again. Now I am beyond starving so I am going to go choke down something to get me home. Obviously if a menu is placed on a table means a person has been seated there. But I didn’t use proper etiquette and wait 49 minutes for a waitress to come profile me to see if I was good enough to be served. Yes I am upset. But I will never stop at this place ever again. After only 3 times of this I have learned my lesson the hard way. And don’t bother to speak to a manager because one of those are NEVER AVAILABLE and every time I go there they are very short staffed. Warning to ALL SINGLE WOMEN: YOU CANNOT GO IN RESTAURANTS AND BE SEATED AND SERVED BECAUSE THE RESTAURANTS WILL NOT MAKE ANY MONEY OFF OF JUST 1 PERSON EATING AND TAKING UP AN ENTIRE TABLE WHERE THEY CAN SEAT 6 PEOPLE AT A TABLE AND MAKE A BETTER HIGHER PROFIT!!! The last 2 times I visited this restaurant for nightly dinner I was standing in by myself and employees overlooked me and seated 5 families behind me. I finally said “I am a single woman who needs seating.” Employee response was “Oh I’m sorry I didn’t see you standing there.”Another employee said, “I thought you were waiting on someone to come join you for dinner.” This has happened to me several times at this restaurant. It has also happened to me at other restaurants as well. I loved the Captain Joe’s salad bar but never again! I understand it is a busy Saturday but restaurants please post signs on your front doors explaining the reasoning behind company laws and policies on why you cannot serve just one person so hungry customers will know before they waste their time and energy going in...
Read moreWell this was certainly a surprise!
Located only a few (5.5) miles from Baxley Municipal Airport, 1.5 miles from Baxley City limits (also a sister restaurant in Waycross).
I arrived at 2:30 on a very hot Friday afternoon. Being from Florida, near Crystal River, I was excited to see if the phone call to the hostess made any sense. I called prior to arriving and inquire as to fresh or frozen. I was told the restraint gets fresh seafood four (4) times each week. Get if we’ve got it fresh OR don’t get it! I get it AND like it!
So, I was greeted by the hostess and promptly seated and further greeted by the waitress who promptly returned with my requested fresh and crisp glass of water (filtered I’m sure). I ordered the “Combination TWO”. My choices were fried Fantailed Shrimp and fried oysters. The shrimp were good since, likely 31-40s (I like the light dusting of batter so I could taste the shrimp). The oysters on the other hand were very small (photos) by comparison to Florida’s Apalachicola oysters. Because of their small size, I believe they were a tad overcooked. I’m not sure how I would even cooked these without dumping a bowl of them into some chowder or Oyster stew. They just didn’t have the flavor or size to give them the oyster consistently I’m accustomed to at home. The Collard Greens were delightfully full of flavor, with bacon and just enough heat/spice to make my nasal passages run! The greens were the highlight of the meal NEXT to the trip to the soup bar. Today, my favorite is Clam Chowder. Both bowls were delicious! The salad bar was like all other salad bars EXCEPT every item in the bar was fresh and crisp. The Tuna Salad and Crab Salad was awesome! They were definitely made on site and NOT from the food vendor. Banana pudding was my go-to dessert although the fresh and crisp pineapple was a...
Read moreWell , where do I start. This was our fist time here. The out side was dark as we visited around 7:30 pm . The parking lot was very dark even with parking lot lights.the building wasn't well lit. We thought they were closed. But we went in anyway. As we entered it was very empty, only two tables with people. The staff was nice and sat us by the Fish tank. We ordered our drinks then food. The waitress was very nice. We had to hurry and get our salad bar as they were closing soon and taking stuff down. We got our salads stuff and ate it. The items on salad bar had many things to choose from. They also had soup but I didn't try any. The food came out and they got my steak wrong but it was what my husband wanted so I gave it to him. The waitress ran to tell them to fix my steak the way I wanted. The ambiance of the place was ok. But needs some kind of updating . we were not very Impressed with the food other than the salad and pop. I only came here cause so many of my friends Raved about it. I have visited this town 6 times and never ate here. So we gave it a try. I would give it another chance before I post any negative comment's. As I believe everyone deserves a second chance or look....
