Dunmire’s on the Lakes — Restaurant in Baxter

Wonderful place to spend my 60th birthday with 2 of my favorite people. We started out with some duck crackling fries, which were really good very interesting fries, kinda twirly if ya will, thicker cut, crispy but fluffy inside, with cracklings of duck meat all over the top almost like nachos & served with some sides of ranch, spicy ranch & a garlic aoli that I loved. We then had the lobster bisque, which was so good, omgoodness! Lobster bisque is always such a hit or miss, but I always try it anyway, because if it's a hit, I'm in heaven. I was in heaven, oh yum! I would go there just for the bisque & duck fries, I mean that's all you need seriously, but then I would have missed out on my lobster tails & augratin potatoes for my birthday dinner, couldn't have that. I love lobster & this as well was not a let down, they do a real good job with the lobster, yum. The augratins were good as well, not what I was expecting, in fact, when my plate first arrived I thought they forgot my augratins & brought me some kind of turnover, but it turned out to be my augratins & it was really good, a little crunchy on the outside but cheesy familiar on the inside. My companions had the ribeye & the pork chop, they were both very happy with their meals as well. We all needed to go containers since we did the fries. Our waitress was a very good server & I feel bad because I did not get her name, I have to get better at that, but it was on 10/25/22 we had a 730 reservation, 3 of us, we were over near the taco station, perhaps she remembers us? Sadly would not recommend Dunmires On The Lake to anyone even though Dunmires Bar & Grill on 210 has always been amazing. We thought we would try this place after hearing it was voted one of America's Best Restaurants.

We made a reservation for 9 people at 6pm on a Monday. The beginning started off ok with getting drinks but then it went downhill. We saw table after table come in after us get food and leave. At one point, almost an hour in the waitress came over and said there was one ticket in front of us and we would get our food. Then two more tables that came in after us - a table of 3 received food and something was wrong with one of their dishes and they received something else and a table of 7 received their food - ate and paid before we got ours. An hour and a half later we received our food. Two of us got chicken Alfredo which had no taste/flavor to the sauce or chicken and the chicken parmesan was salty. The other food was ok but not enjoyable after waiting for so long.

The waitress was very nice, repeatedly apologized and said the manager was aware. The manager never came to apologize and when the bill came there was no comp for the wait. With a few at the table in the service industry, we were surprised.

During our 2 hour wait and dinner, we had to continuously swat flies away. Definitely do...

They had Prime Rib on Friday night! A queen or king that was absolutely delicious! Cooked to perfection. Choice of potatoes, au gratin, baked, garlic mashed potatoes. I went with the garlic mashed potatoes. Unbelievable how good they were! Don't know who is cooking but, they sure have it going! The chicken wild rice soup was so good I was tempted to just have the soup. Dessert was a win, carrot cake with a caramel sauce and real whipped cream it I thought it was. When I first walked in, I was met by the receptionist, who treated me like I was a regular there. She showed me to the table and you were immediately comfortable. My waitress was Devaney and she made you feel as you were her only table. She was just that good! Dunmires on the Lake is a dining experience that I will definitely repeat. I had heard it was good but , it's well beyond good !

Wasn't sure how to do another review on Dunmires at the Lake so, I'm just adding to an existing one. The servers I had were excellent! I have had a few different servers when there. They were all excellent! I had the hot toast beef sandwich served open faced. The flavor was incredible! The roast beef was so tender! The mashed potatoes were firm not soft like so many other places that serve them. And let's not forget the raspberry iced...
