The food and the service were honestly quite good until the owner absolutely ruined the experience in the last 15 minutes. We were a group of 5 or so kids and 5 adults. as anyone with kids will know, you do your best to balance having fun as adults while keeping an eye on your kids. For the majority of the duration of the meal the kids sat at their own group table and stayed put, each conversing and eating their meals respectably. As we waited for desert and things were wrapping up, two 5 year old boys had left with a group to the bathroom and we had our eye off of them for a minute or two. Apparently there is this very small fake potted plant in a corner by the entrance door that had this small little plastic glitter balls on it. the kids had pulled about 4 off the plant and brought them into our dining space, left two on the ground without us knowing. The owner came over in a huff demanding to know who the parents of the boys were. He angrily spoke about what had happened in a such an aggressive manner you would thing the kids stole a diamond out of his register. He REPEATEDLY commented about how unacceptable it was that this happened even after we had immediately agreed the first time he said it and yelled at our children, punishing them to their chairs and demanding they not move. We didn’t need him to repeat it, we agreed and apologized that we missed them doing that and that is was indeed unacceptable for our kids to touch any of their property or remove things from the plant. He walked away in a huff and we assumed things were over, especially with us still scolding our children and watching them closely. Most of our anger still on the kids, we all patiently waited for our desert and to our surprise, the guy comes back. He walks over angrily like Lois from Malcom In The Middle and says “where are the boys?” looks at them and barks “come with me!” One of our fathers said no, they are good now, we’ve talked we them, and he replies no they are going to come clean this stuff up. The father said no, I will clean it up, and was walking over to the plant and the owner just kept going at it. The father said no, hold on, you‘re going a little overboard here, to which the owner got even angrier and I thought he was going to try and then kick us out the way he carried on. There was literally 2 of those tiny little plastic balls on the floor. It was just the most blown out of proportion thing I have ever seen at 2 kids. This whole scenario would be mildly understandable if we blew the guy off when he brought us the problem or didn’t correct the issue with our children, but it was handled and done, the message was received in the first 10 seconds and handled. We didn’t need the continued lecture. Also to come back and directly bypass the parents and address the children and try to get them to come with you to discipline them yourself absurd on some many levels. He even had the nerve to tell us to watch our kids, as we were STILL apologizing like we are the most negligent parents in the world for a 2 minute basic mishap. Don’t try to take my 5 year old anywhere and if you have an issue come to me and it will get handled. And it was. Hell, ask me to pay for your not-ruined $5 dollar plant that quite frankly, would probably improve the decor of the establishment if it was destroyed. But have more tact, treat your patrons and their children with more respect. He acted like he had been taking shots and was an angry drunk on the job it was so ridiculous. Thank you to the staff who still did a great job and who obviously must have a tough time working for...
Read moreSeveral weeks ago, my husband and mom ate dinner together at Latitude 43. They had nothing but rave reviews for their experience.
This evening, the three of us were able to have dinner together at Latitude 43. It was my first time eating here. Upon pulling into the parking lot, my first impression was, Wow this has to be a good restaurant because the parking lot was nearly full. Within a few minutes, we found a parking space without problem.
When we entered the restaurant, it was “hopping.” We were greeted almost immediately, by a friendly hostess. Initially, she was going to seat us at a table. However, we asked if she had a booth available. She did and we were promptly seated and informed that our waitress would be over to get our drink orders shortly. Within seconds, Ashleigh arrived and offered a list of alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic beverages they had to offer. She also informed us of the “specials” offered off the menu, including the prices. (I found this incredibly helpful as there wouldn't be any shock when our check came after our meal.) In addition, Ashleigh wrote her name on a cocktail napkin, leaving it at our table. I found this a simple, yet effective way to identify her. If and when there had been an issue, we would know exactly who to ask for. (A first for us, but highly recommended to anyone who waits tables for a living.)
My mom ordered the cod dinner with asparagus and sweet potato fries. My husband had the sirloin with broccoli and a baked potato. I ordered a special on filet and shrimp with chili and asparagus as my sides. The chili was very good and was shared between the three of us. We all gave it a “two thumbs up.” All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
When our food arrived, Ashleigh asked us to cut into our steaks to confirm the medium-rare temperature we had requested. My filet appeared to be more along the temperature of medium-well, so Ashleigh promptly informed me that she would request a refire of my filet immediately. (My experience in other restaurants has been that the plate is removed and a second one is brought to the table with the correctly refired item. This time, Ashleigh left my plate, allowing me to enjoy eating my asparagus. Upon cutting further into my filet, I found that it was cooked to medium-rare, however, the little piece I had cut was a thinner part of the steak and it had cooked to a medium-well temperature. I informed Ashleigh as soon as possible, but the replacement was already being prepared. A few minutes later, I was presented with, not only another filet but also another serving of asparagus and a dinner roll! I apologized profusely, but was encouraged to enjoy the second meal with no charge! I couldn't believe the offer and the complete generosity of the staff! Needless to say, I required a box to take home, all of the leftovers from my first, as well as the entire second meal!
In conclusion, I would highly recommend Latitude 43 for a good, and somewhat “upscale” meal! Yes, the prices are more than what you'd pay at other “steakhouses,” but the food, atmosphere, and service you receive are well worth...
Read moreTonight was our first visit, we felt we had to try it because the parking lot is always full 6 days a week. We figured we needed to go early and when we arrived at 4:45pm and the had about 90% of capacity. Now on to the review, the hostess is a charming young lady and very polite while taking in my rather dry humor. It's a clean establishment and the staff are remarkable, didn't show any stress about how busy it was. Our server was Ashleigh, let me say this about this girl I have been in Bay City for 3 years as have eaten at many of the restaurant this city has to offer and she is the best in town. Thanks Ashleigh (the couple that ordered for the dog). From the time we walked in to the time we walked out service was great our steaks were prepared with excellence. We Will be back, the wonderment is gone but we have a new best restaurant.
There is only 2 things that would be if a small, tiny issue. The first is something that not be fixed as it was during happy hour and I have hearing problems the typical and a little close quarter seating it was hard to hear my wife. The second one was our steaks were ready to be brought out but the fries were not done yet. Ashleigh explained and apologized. This was not an issue because of the appetizers, salad, only half of my steak I couldn't eat another bite. Took a lot of food home the amount of the servings is a little big for us we will know next time. But our fur baby loved everything. Great to all compliments to the chef and crew and to all the front of the house, keep up the great work...
