Irene's ice cream — Restaurant in Bazetta Township

I'm glad someone was able to buy the old Grumpy's ice cream and remodel it and keep it an ice cream shop. Would have been very sad to lose such a place right by the lake. What we got was ok. The fries were just the frozen ones cooked, and they don't have a ketchup pump, so they hand you 2 small packets that I guess are supposed to be enough for them. Which I guess it is since the portions on everything are VERY small! But you're still paying premium prices. When we tried to sit back on the picnic tables, there was a lady back there spraying them off with the hose. I asked if we would be able to sit, and she goes "well if you can find a dry one." Mind you, this is right in the afternoon. So I get you want to keep the tables clean, but wouldn't it have been better to do at night when there aren't any customers? This was a special treat for the kids getting out of school, and it was our first time there since it opened. We just wanted to sit there and enjoy. Luckily, we did find a dry spot to sit. She also left her cigarettes and lighter just laying there on one of the tables after she walked away. Also, when we were sitting there, two other workers came out and were smoking behind the building right where everyone sits to eat. My sister told me she also had a similar experience when I told her what had happened. They also have two bathrooms that you can use. One was locked and not in use, and the other one was dirty . The toilet was filled with pee, and it was a pretty warm day, so the smell when you went in there was rank. I didn't let my kids use the bathroom. We waited till we went home. I'm sure we will return, but at least I know what to expect the next time. Which isn't much,...

Took the family there today, as it was there last day of the season and we wanted to support a local shop. We ordered and only one of our cones came out and we were skipped for the following three. My wife talked to the ladies at the window and they apologized and went to make the rest of the order. My wife had to repeat our order 4 different times. They then served her melted ice cream in a bowl with a cone on top and apologized because it was the bottom of the tub, instead of asking if we wanted another flavor. When my wife mentioned it wasn’t okay, they gave her $5 back and apologized again. It also took over 15 minutes to get our order of 4 cones. They staff was very apologetic and friendly, but there is a general disorganization and frazzled-ness about the place- on top of serving not the highest of quality of ice cream. We went there to get ice cream for our family tonight and I went up to order I asked for a large ice cream cone and a small ice cream cone the lady taking my order looked at me completely confused by that like she did not understand what the difference was between a small ice cream cone and a large ice cream cone when I did receive the ice cream the large ice cream cone had so much ice cream on it that it was falling out on my hand. The small was about the same. They have no idea how to control the portions and don't have good customer service, I've never been to an ice cream stand where they look clueless when you order your ice cream. We have given this place multiple trys and each time just gets worse. They definitely will no longer get our bussiness and we will take it elsewhere where we know we will get good ice cream and great...
