Tamales El Guero restaurant — Restaurant in Beach Park

It's a little out of the way but it is probably the best taco in Lake County no joke....

We originally saw this reataurant in the form of a food truck outside the Home Depot in Gurnee Illinois.

The first time I saw the food truck was on my way to Chicago, my wife had eaten, so I decided to gum down two tacos... Not only is the meat cooked to perfection and seasoned exceptionally, it is stuffed to the brim and the salsa's are actually spicy and flavorful...

Today my wife and I decided to make a stop in the actual restaurant we were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant beaming with character and life.

We were hungry, so we decided on Chilaquiles, and two ordera of the 3 taco dinner.

I will say this, less is more, the portions are HUGE!!!! and the food is so damn tasty.

I am a big boy, and even I had to take a break before gumming down the last taco!

Overall this was one of the best atmospheres and food in Lake County.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food with just the best quality ingredients go no further.

ALSO!!!!!!!!! IF YOU DINE IN THE RESTURANT THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH A SALSA BAR..... THATS RIGHT, DIFFERENT SALSA'S FOR ABSOLUTELY FREE. I HAVE NEVE HEARD OF THAT BEFORE BUT I WAS TEMPTED TO EAT MY TO GO ORDER IN STORE TO BENEFIT FROM THE BAR....

I went to this small restaurant and placed a to-go order for nearly $100. I even tipped the girl who took my order. After a short wait, I noticed a salsa bar and asked if I could take some radish. To my surprise, I was told that the radish was only for dine-in customers. I offered to pay extra for it, but I was met with the same response. When I asked to speak to the manager, a lady who claimed to be the owner came over. After explaining that I just wanted some radish from the salsa bar, she responded rudely, saying, "If you want to be served anything you want, you should eat at home." I found her attitude completely unacceptable. Feeling unwelcome, I asked her to cancel my order. She agreed but pointed out a sign stating a no-refund policy. I informed her that I would call my bank if I didn't receive a refund, and then she agreed to process the refund. I have no intention of returning to that place again. It's appalling to see such poor customer service...

Let me tell you! Seriously the best tacos you can buy! I married an amazing Latina and she would hands down say best authentic taco restaurant you can find. We go at least once a week. Once you try them you’ll have to order more. We also appreciate excellent customer service. Food is ready in no time these guys and gals move FAST! Roberto and Chris are better than Allstate your in great hands with them! See you there one of these days I guarantee it!
