Went to Bear Creek Cafe this morning. When we entered we were told they would be with us in a minute. Waited patiently for 5 minutes. Another younger couple came in after us and Elissa (supposedly the manager) behind the counter came up to speak with them and then IMMEDIATELY sat them at table #2. The female customer had no mask using her sweatshirt to cover her mouth.(even tough it was posted masks required).

I asked Elissa if my wife and I were invisible, since she IMMEDIATELY sat the couple whom came in AFTER us. Elissa said they were "owners" which I think was a lie since when I complained the man with the red hair and beard looked away when I looked directly at him, never saying a word. I called back 20 minutes later and asked to speak to the owner(s).

Elissa said they not in the area. lol. I thought they were seated at table #2.

I don't know if the food was any good since I was denied that opportunity. I do know that one of the waitresses was denied the opportunity of receiving at least a 20% tip and the loss of any future tips once I tell EVERYONE I know about the "customer service" I received. I do live fulltime in the area and know the adverse impacts of COVID on small business owners like bars/restaurants/cafes and this type of treatment will only hurt you more severely.

If there was a way to choose negative stars...

This restaurant had come highly recommended by many! I have to say the food was delicious and when we were finally seated our server was very attentive and friendly. I took one star away because we were not very satisfied with the way they had the waiting list set up. Instead of having a Hostess monitor the list of people who were waiting for a table, they had everyone line up on the register line. This meant that if people were paying their bills you waited in line behind them and then finally put your name down on the list. The list was then never looked at until the register line was cleared. There were tables that were empty and at least five or six separate parties of people standing and waiting around to be seated. It was not a matter of not having enough staff since there were waitresses available. A hostess to monitor the waiting list and to seat people would definitely solve this issue. Otherwise we were very satisfied with the food and our server. The Cafe was so homey with many stained glass windows and a country vibe. I did make one suggestion and that was to possibly create Bear Creek Cafe...

Wonderful country side diner with beautiful views of nature, charming indoor dining with gift shop, outdoor sitting areas at patio, gazebo, or creek side sitting in one of four Adirondack chair. We spotted Bold Eagle flying the area just a little down stream from the Cafe during our visit. Their bird feeders by the windows invite a lot of different species, hummingbird, cardinal, quails and many others. Made a great place for bird watchers.

Food is great, country hash brown is made of fresh cut potatoes and really good. I ordered croissant which is not on their breakfast menu, but staff was very accommodating; it came out with light toast on the flat top, crispy on the edges and chewy, really good.

Service is awesome. The staff we had was very nice, attention to details, let us take our time and enjoy the atmosphere during our weekday morning visit.

Cafe close on Sunday. I can only imagine long wait on Saturday for a wonderful...

This was my second awesome experience at Bear Creek Cafe--and I'd been looking forward to it for 6 years! My oldest son went to Camp Orchard Hill, about 1/2 hour away, as a HS freshman, which was when I first found this gem of a dining experience on our way from NJ. This year, my youngest son went to camp and I made a point to stop at the Cafe to take in the beautiful sights and great food again. Even though we had to wait 1/2 hour for a table for 5, the time went fast as we walked by the stream and took pictures of the endless flower gardens and unique building with stained glass and other charming touches. There's also a small, quality gift shop to browse in. Everyone's breakfast was delicious (I had the Hawaiian scramble) and our young server did a great job. Bear Creek Cafe is a must for anyone traveling through the area with a little extra time to enjoy an outstanding meal and lots of beauty for the eyes to feast on.
