Friend of mine told me about this place. Said he & Wife go up often for Supper, as well as other Family & Friends.

Wife & I made the 25-30 minute trip up I-81 to the Arcadia Exit (#168). New it had something going for it, by the line of vehicles outside. They had a sign on door letting Customers know they were short staffed & please be patient. Walked in & was greeted with a smiling face. She said we could sit wherever. We asked if there was room on the outside patio, which there was.

Sat down and greeted by Waitress with Menus & Silverware. Let us know our Waitress would be right out. Tiffani (sp?) was our Waitress & was wonderful start to finish.

They have a fantastic menu, with many selections. We both came for the Burger on our 1st visit. Jen got the Outback Burger & Onion Rings. Has horseradish sauce on it & they bring a side to dip in. I had the Breakfast of Champs Burger & Salt/Vinegar Fries. The Beef is from a local farm, D&D in Fincastle, VA just down the road a piece. From the first bite to the last you could taste the freshness!

A small thing, but certainly of note. We both got Ice Water. The water had no aftertaste. Seems like a lot of Restaurants these days water has it, but not here.

The lasting impression is they were short staffed & busy......but the Waitresses(we saw a few outside) all had sunny depositions, even as the night was wearing on. There Owners were in the back helping Cook. They are to be commended for their Staff & their Food!!! πŸ˜‹

We already are planning to go back, next time taking 2 other Couples who have never been. Support local & enjoy a great...

Visiting the area for a spur of the moment solo birthday trip (birthday landed on Thanksgiving Day this year). I ate here the night before Thanksgiving Day. I was recommended this place by some locals. I ordered Brian's Seafood Pasta. It was shrimp & crab meat in a sauce over pasta served with garlic bread and house salad. The house salad was a generous portion of fresh salad ingredients, I requested blue cheese dressing which was delicious (I asked for no cucumbers, no croutons, & no mushrooms... But I'd bet those ingredients are good if you want those included). I was told that the regular sauce used for the main course was not available because it had been used completely (must be a popular dish). But I was given the option to order something else or opt for a different sauce... I chose the lemon butter sauce which was very good. It tasted scratch made. My only complaint was there was very fine small pieces of crab and the crab was very scarce to the point it was barely noticeable. The shrimp was abundant and good. I did have to add salt because the pasta didn't taste like it had been salted, and I like my pasta salted. Since my birthday was the following day I ordered Heath bar Butter Cake as a dessert to celebrate. It was a sheet poke cake with a toffee filling in the pokes & a whipped cream based topping/icing with Heath bar crumbles. The whipped cream looked and tasted homemade. Rachel waited on me and was very attentive. She wished me a happy birthday and a happy Thanksgiving. It was a very good experience and the food was outstanding. I would...

Visited Foot of the Mountain Cafe following a Sunflower Festival just a few minutes away, and it was wonderful! Ordered the Aunt Eakin burger medium, and the flavors were absolutely delicious! Melted pimento cheese with a cheesy sweetness contrasted well with the acidity of the crunchy fried green tomato, with bacon for more crunch flavor. The expertly cooked to medium juicy beef burger was presented on a toasted bun. I would order this burger again and again, as the flavors are so balanced, and it's craveable. The accompanying Mac and cheese was flavorful, but not outstanding. My dining mate had the barbecue sandwich with slaw, and it was deemed delicious. Their onion rings were excellently cooked to a nice crunch, and were not soggy. I noted many diners enjoying the onion rings so they must be a speciality here. The two wait staff were overextended and very busy, but our food came in a timely manner, When ready to leave, we waited a considerable time to receive our bill, as the restaurant had filled quickly after our arrival. The atmosphere is plain, and some of the seating is old. There is an outside patio dining area which seemed pleasant. Great food with fair service, beautiful mountain views, and excellent community and Interstate dining support keeps this place on its toes! I will return and order that...

First, the good, of which there is much. If you are heading north, go past Roanoke about 15-20 minutes and give this place a try. It is a small cafe that makes fresh food, made to order. There are basic menu items as well as some creative twists. It was those creative twists that drew me to try this place. My choice was the Emily, which is a burger with Swiss, bacon aioli and shrimp. Fantastic. The dressing for Caesars salad had a kick to it. Everything that comes out of the kitchen for others looked delicious, especially the shrimp and grits. The toll House pie was also a treat. Now the not-as-good Parking is a challenge and it is a small cafe. But worth the wait. My main issue was the bar. I dined alone on a Friday and expected to either wait for a table or sit at the bar, which I chose the latter. I had to find the lone seat that didn't have unclear dishes and which were never cleared. The wait staff also wasn't as attentive as needed. The dessert I ordered? I got that myself at the register, as it was never offered by the wait staff. In fact, I felt rushed to get out of there.
