Our waitress (older lady red hair) was rude. We went in right around 1030 being ok with waiting for them to serve lunch. We got breakfast menus when I asked if we could order lunch waitress was rude grabbed breakfast menus and walked away. (Then brought back lunch menus) I got a water my daughter got a pop (she is 8 usually never complains) she said her pop tasted weird so we asked for a different kind got attitude again. I had the catfish it tasted good, but the "famous" strawberry shortcake wasn't good the angel food was hard. When I went to pay I wanted to buy a shirt, same waitress that we had checked us out and checked a pile of shirts for my size (which she found) when I asked her to check a different color that I wanted she rolled her eyes and...

"1 of Iowa's 99 Must try restaurants" according to signs in the dining room, which is divided into 2 areas. Sit anywhere you like. Breakfast ends at 10.30 but, they have biscuits gravy all day. Our server was prompt and thorough. We did see her friendly side, she's just incredibly dry witted. At some point, while waiting for our food, there came a horribly disturbing scream from the kitchen, an apparent result of antics with the Back of house staff, which tripped my PTSD. Exceptional brisket with great smoke flavor stands on its own merits, served on a fresh kaiser bun; add the FrogSpit bbq sauce with its medium pour, plenty of tang, & a little kick! 🤩 5Stars bc the classic sides were extraordinary flavorful! Mac&cheese was thic, creamy, & perfectly al dente. Mustard potato salad was light yet creamy, potatoes had the right bite. Fluffy Mashed potatoes served w brown gravy was delightful and the slaw was extra chopped making it so refreshing with great seasoning!
