Portside Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Bedford

We went on a Sunday with friends who recommended this restaurant. We were told there was no seating out side and proceeded to the restaurant and asked if we could sit at the picnic tables down near the water. We were told they do not serve food on tables in the grass (whatever that means) so we proceeded to the porch so we could look out. After the waitress came and we tried to order a few drafts we were told that drafts were only sold down at the bar. What??? We can’t get drafts with lunch because we are sitting upstairs! We proceeded to order lunch for 8. Lemonade- no Brewed ice tea sweet. No. We were told the owner really doesn’t like to serve tea and they have been trying to persuade him. Lunch. Sold out of wings the day before (only open 3 days and this was day 2.) ranch dressing. We are out of that too. Would love a White Claw. Oh we only have watermelon. We ran out yesterday. I usually get Cole slaw as a side but this was loaded with jalapeños and warm. What a disappointing experience. Next time we will choose somewhere that keeps a supply of what they have on the menu and genuinely cares about...

We arrived at 12:15 for lunch. All of the tables in the covered area were taken. The only available table was in the sun. We saw an umbrella and asked a staff person if we could put it up for shade. He said yes and started to help us put it up. A manager walked up to us and abruptly told us that we could not put up the umbrella. I told him that we were given permission. He said it was too windy, and then he turned away from us without an apology or offering any other option. Then came the server. She asked for our drink order. I ordered ice tea and she said unapologetically "we don't have any tea". I asked if they had coke zero and she said "diet coke". I ordered water and she glared at me. The menu selection is extremely limited, and it was difficult to find items we could all eat. Two adults and 2 children got the nachos, and they were terrible. The chips were the size of a thumb, like the crumbs at the bottom of a bag. The chicken on the nachos was not edible. The Philly cheesesteak was "not good". The server never came to ask us how the food was. I am done with the bad food and...

The website said that they were open today at lunchtime. Sign on the deck said OPEN. We docked our brand new boat on the outside slip and unloaded 8 passengers only to be told (by the owner I assume) that they weren't opening until 4. The slip had no rubber AT ALL. It damaged our boat ripping all the Chaparral letters off and tearing the graphics on the side. All of the slips are in disrepair with missing rubber and cleats. I have piloted a boat for over 30 years.

Two hours later, my husband returned to get gas in our jet ski. The OPEN sign was still there and 3 boats were docked all with people complaining that the sign should not say OPEN. It was finally flipped over at that time.
