MG Grill — Restaurant in Beeville

I will not return to this restaurant which is sad. They have remodeled it and it's beautiful. We were sooooo excited to try this place. I had the footlong hotdogs. It was amazing and the best I've had in a long time. But it was the only good thing. My friends ckn strips and onion rings were both over fried. She liked her green beans. We had to ask another waitress for something cause ours didn't come back. When we got to the register my friend paid first with her credit card. They charged her extra for using her card and never told her. It isn't posted anywhere. Not on the menu...not on the counter...nowhere! I paid for mine with cash and the waitress then told Me it was cheaper paying by cash. My friend with me was upset because they charged her Blindly so she had them void her pmt so she could pay cash. Meanwhile I was still waiting on my change and asked three times for it. It was 42 cents. Finally the waitress handed me a dollar and said they don't have change at the register. Only at the bar.... What??! How crazy us that? She was just going to keep my change and not say anything! It's not about the amt...if they do that to Every customer they are stealing. That is SO DISHONEST!! I am angry and disappointed in this place. They are taking advantage of thier customers and trying to hide it. I talked to management and they didn't care at all. Said the charge on the credit card was a small percentage. Even took thir calculator out to prove thier point. They don't get the point was that they are charging a surcharge without telling the customer and allowing them to switch to cash before paying. Again...DISHONEST. If I hadn't paid cash we NEVER would have known. Managers response was "we havnt had any complaints"....uh how can they complain if u don't tell them you charged them extra...DISHONEST!

If you go here... maybe pay at the bar? WATCH YOUR WALLET AND QUESTION...

Update 4/24/24 - We came for a quick dinner. We ordered fish tacos, Hail Mary steak and the special hamburger steak with two sides. The hamburger steak was cooked well but the gravy was salty and lacking onions and mushrooms. The macaroni and cheese was not good. The cheese sauce broke and was separating.

Update: we returned. The food was great! We tried the Jalapeño Jam Burger, Grilled chicken sandwich and a side order of onion rings. This time there was two different problems but they were rectified. One, we ordered the side onion rings; well they put it on my husband basket and gave him less fries. The manager, Stephanie, came to our table and apologized and stated she spoke with her cooks. Stephanie offered to bring more fries but I shared some of mine with my husband. It wasn’t the amount of onion rings we got it was the amount of fries we didn’t get because we ordered the side order. Two, the waitress had to offer my husband a different kind of beer because they were out but didn’t change it on the ticket. She had it changed after I pointed out that there was a price difference in the beer that was not served versus the beer we were served. We will try it again in a few weeks.

We miss the Republik but this place is just as good if not better! We have visited this place twice, once during the week and another time for an early dinner. Great food and service! They have a few items on the menu but a great variety. Everything we have tried has been “good food”! Be sure and try their chipotle corn, a little spicy kick and flavorful. Don’t forget to ask for a drink menu, which they have great deals! In some drinks they will knock off 50 cents during happy hour. You also have a choice of spicy or not on the fried pickles and mushrooms. Warning-spicy is very spicy. We will...

Alright, y'all... I have given this place many chances to improve their game, and it has just not happened. My original review is below. In my opinion, and from what other's have shared with me, the thing about this place that draws people in would be revealingly dressed bartenders. The food is either way too salty, not flavorful, overcooked, or too greasy. When I say I've tried, I mean I have really tried. I keep getting invited here or this ends up being where everyone wants to meet to drink. The atmosphere reflects something you could find on the boardwalk so I think people love the external atmosphere. IMO they should just turn this place into a bar/venue with finger food. Wait staff is very forgetful and very cold. Friendliness is not a common trait in the waitstaff.

(ORIGINAL REVIEW) I don’t care to give bad reviews because businesses have off days and can change from day to day, depending on the cook and staff at the time. However, I have my pros and cons list

Pros: Nice price points Great atmosphere Friendly staff (my experience) Family friendly

Cons for what we got: Fried pickles were so salty I couldn’t eat them. Food was extremely greasy to where it was dripping down my arm. My first beer was obviously watered down to the point where it barely had a golden tint (beer I always drink.). Second beer was normal so I know the first one was watered down.

We don’t eat out a lot so we were hoping for a good experience. We do understand that bad days come just as easy as the good food so we will return...
