Apple Barn and Bake Shop — Restaurant in Bennington

Used to go to The Apple Barn often prior to this new owner. I am local. Always a bit pricy, but the baked goods were delicious and they looked good. Last week-end I stopped to purchase muffins for breakfast. My sister was with me and we agreed they didn't look very appetising but bought them anyway. 4 muffins and 2 scones were $27!!! I almost choked when the clerk gave me the total. I am a baker and my muffins would put theirs to shame. Also, last Fall we stopped in to buy apples, and there were hardly no apples in the store. And one last comment, when you bought baked goods from the prior owner, they would be put into a bakery box. The $27 muffins I bought were thrown into a brown paper bag. we had a free Saturday so we decided to take a ride to Vermont for the day. This time we were heading towards the Bennington area to start off and remembered to stop at the Apple Barn. The place was really busy but we expected that this time of the year. We went in for two sider donuts and one sugar cookie with a maple brown sugar frosting. The donuts were good but the sugar cookie with the maple brown sugar frosting was the absolute bomb! We were eating it in the car on the way home last night and it’s one of the best cookies I’ve ever had. Next time I think I’ll get a dozen and bring them home! Keep up the good work and thank you! Terrible experience. Went with my mother in law and brought my daughter and 5 niece's to have a nice day. Traveled all the way from Ma just to have the cashier NORMA yell at the children and my mother in law for no reason .3 of the vhildrec are 2 years old sorry we can't put duct tape over their mouths to keep them quiet. She was very very rude and should be fired. We left immediately. We were trying to pick out $10 t shirts for each of the kids and didn't buy them because she yelled at us and made us feel totally unwelcome. Never again.
