Not exactly the kind of café I as expecting, I generaly go for more of a sit down and eat place. Kinda sad that they only really do "to-go". I believe they have an outdoor seating area that's not being used. The food isn't bad, especially for a gas station café. The biscuits and gravy were alright. Personally I would like more pepper in the gravy, but I really like pepper, it was a nice thickness. The biscuits seemed a little flat, especially for the amount of gravy. I would also recommend cutting up the sausage a bit smaller, and putting it on top of the gravy. I only had a taste of the fench toast my gf got, that being said, I would recommend adding nutmeg, with a little ground cloves, maybe even a smidge of ginger.
I think the biggest appeal for the place is that it's an on the road café, and not having the outdoor seating area open, if I'm not mistaken, is missing out on that appeal for people driving by or stopping for a meal. I wouldn't want to order food and eat it In my car after driving, having that scenery change is nice, but if your going to close the outdoor seating, what's the point in keeping the café open, to sit at the two small tables crammed in front of the register? I would also HIGHLY recommend getting a larger printed menu, kinda like banner style, I almost didn't see the two laminated printer papers taped...
Read moreI am trying their loaded baked potato soup for the first time right now and it is outstanding... I eat here often considering it is the only place in benton city with a 24/7 kitchen and while some menu selections are better than others just like anywhere else.. I've never ordered anything that was terrible. Kevin who has worked in the kitchen here for years is by far the best cook, hands down if u can figure out which shift he works at any given time.. other than frequent rises in prices (which is affecting everyone, everywhere and isn't necessarily their fault) I really can't say I've ever had a bad experience ordering...
Read moreDon't know if I would consider this place to be a Cafe. No seating except for outside. Now this wouldn't be an issue really if it were summer, but this is winter in Washington state. Food smelled good but wasn't going to even bother if there wasn't any heat for the "dining area". And yes, I could have eaten in my car, but again this is supposed to be a "cafe" and I shouldn't have to. Maybe if they move out of the gas station and into an actual stand alone building or at least some sort of covered seating area that's not exposed to the outside elements I will go back and...
