Chapter One As I walked into the establishment, the air was filled with anticipation as we awaited to be seated. The service was very professional and quick to respond to my family's witty remarks. The water, though it may only look like city water, came from only the finest springs in Michigan. We sat at our grand, round table under glistening lights and surrounded by nautical decor. The food described in the menus made no comparison to the food that eventually sat in front of me. Smells of every type of meat wafted through the air, and as it plopped into my mouth, I knew that this was where I wanted my ashes to be placed. While this may have looked like a regular family outing, it was anything but. Our family was celebrating my grandma's 100th birthday, and as our plates started to empty, the doubt started to creep in. What doubt, you may be asking. I doubted whether or not my grandma would be receiving a birthday treat from the staff (which, I may add, is the only advantage of coming to restaurants on your birthday). When all hope was lost like the food on our plates, our waiter came out, his glasses perched carefully on the bridge of his nose, carrying, you guessed it, a birthday treat. It was the most grand hot fudge sundae I had ever laid my eyes upon (it was tasty too, she let me have a bite or two). At this, I KNEW a review on the Google was necessary. With full stomachs, we made our way back home, knowing if we ever had any more birthdays, they would be celebrated at...

This place is as hard to leave as it is hard to find! Very friendly staff and wonderful food. The owner met us at the door as we arrived and assured me that we we not the first ones who's GPS took them in circles near, but not to, this beautiful hidden treasure. Located in an extraordinarily awesome area on the Cheboygan River near where it flows into the incomparably beautiful Mullet Lake, this century old building provides a wonderful experience in itself. The staff, menu and chef take it the rest of the way to 5 stars! Ask Julie (hostess/owner) to show you the very cool tamarack tree outside the restaurant-- the type of which many of the hand hewn beams that are visible everywhere in this special place are crafted. I recommend the Walleye which is often on the special board, or the Prime Rib or Whitefish which are among their signature dishes. You will not be...

First off, the food was excellent. The duck and prime rib were both fantastic. Our waitress was great. She did a lot of running, but still managed to stay on top of things. The view is great. If you can't enjoy the river, then you won't like this place. We sat right next to the window where the kettle sits and the raccoons come up at night and eat rolls. My grandson absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is fantastic as well. I only have 2 issues with this place. First, there is no air conditioning, so be prepared to sweat. It is HOT in there. Second...and this was my biggest disappointment...I didnt get to try any of the dessert. And it looked FANTASTIC! The menu is limited, but what they do,...

Really cool building with lots to look at inside. Had high hopes. Table of 8 of us. I felt I had to apologize to everyone for the bad experience, since it was my idea to go there for dinner. Waiter was rude and never present. He insisted we must be all on one bill, which is fine, but then wouldn't provide a detailed receipt. I may have double tipped, who knows?! The best dish was the calamari, and only because it was swimming in sauce. Big time bummer!

First time here, was recommended for their steaks. The atmosphere is old lodge feel, clean and eclectic. We started with a drink at the bar, the bartender was friendly and we settled on a martini and Manhattan, both were good. For dinner, I chose the steak medium rare. It was cooked perfectly, but it was not very tender. It felt like a lesser grade than prime. Our server was very pleasant and overall I would recommend dining here

Up scale. Not run of the mill. Great atmosphere. Awesome food. Wonderful service. Be prepared for surprising desserts also. The small Prime Rib is larger than expected! The grill isn't hot enough for the"Pittsburgh Style", but the cook is top-notch and we were very satisfied. The Coconut Cream Pie is the best served anywhere. Come by Boat or car. Enjoy the experienc!
