Let me start with this, I live less than a mile from this place and for two years I steered clear of it due to poor service and finding hair in my food on 3 separate occasions.
With that said, I had some friends over tonight who wanted to try it and I caved. I can't tell you how angry I am for doing it.
Here's the scenario:
Called and ordered two large pizzas at 630pm for pickup and was told it would take 20-25 minutes.
I got to the place at 645pm and went to pay for the pizzas but when they repeated the order it was for a small pizza and a large pizza. After about a 5 minute conversation I decided that I would just take the small and large pizza even though I ordered two larges due to the time it would take to correct it.
After 15 minutes I asked about our pizzas and how long it would take. We were told they would be right out. I waited another 10 minutes before asking about the pizzas again. This time I was told that they rang it in as one large sub and one small pizza. This is when the cashier went to the owner and they came to the front to speak with me. After speaking with the owner I reiterated that I ordered two large pizzas and he said that it would take 7 minutes and he would push them through right away.
After waiting another 10 minutes the owner is walking towards me with one small pizza and one large pizza. Keep in mind that I just talked to him about the fact that I ordered two large pizzas. As I saw the small pizza I told him that I wanted the two large pizzas and he replied with that I was originally okay getting one small and one large. At this point I decided to not waste anymore time, he gave me my refund and I took home one small pizza and one large pizza. I'm honestly mostly upset with the fact that if I never called the pizzas in and just went there to place my order it would have been faster.
I get the big picture that this isn't that big of a deal. But seriously after reading more recent posts about wrong orders or poor customer service it seems to be systemic with this place.
Needless to say I highly encourage you to take the extra 5 minutes and drive to a different pizza place and give them your business.
Update: The owner did offer to correct the pizza and deliver it to my home. I did ask to have my pizza corrected and the owner obliged but I was still given one small and one large instead of two large. It is only after the previous failed attempts I agreed to take the one small and one large pizza because it was evident to me that if I wanted two large pizzas like I ordered I would have to wait even longer and I couldn’t. Yes you did offer to drive the pizza to my house free of charge but I declined due to me not wanting to wait longer. It’s understandable that new personnel make mistakes but even after speaking with the owner the pizzas came out incorrect and it took 45 minutes to get the...
Read moreI ordered a couple of small pizzas to pick up from this relatively new establishment, located on Berkley St. near the Taunton town line. Over the past few years a number of establishments have come and gone from this location, so let's hope this one sticks as the overall experience was excellent.
First, the order taker on the phone was friendly and courteous. I asked if they saute their onions for the onion pizza and he said in so many words, "If you want them sauteed, then they will be sauteed. We aim to please the people". Next, I was informed that the time till pickup would be 15 minutes ... way quicker than lots of places I've tried. The pizzas were ready and waiting when I got there.
In addition to the pizzas that I ordered, the owner asked me to try a sample of an experimental pizza he was working on ... "Shepherd's Pie" pizza. Not only was this good, but it leads to the next interesting thing about this place ... their unusual list of specialty pizzas. Certainly worth a look.
Price wise, this was pretty good as well with a small plain cheese at $6.99 and toppings for it at $1.00 each (for small pizzas, $1.75 for large).
Last but not least, the pizza itself was quite good. Nice crust, good flavor, no skimping on the toppings, and everything applied out to the edges of the crust. Baked perfectly.
This place is definitely worth a try and I wish them well. It's nice to have a good pizza joint...
Read moreI don’t know where to start with this one! I saw on Facebook from the Taunton gazette that Berkley has the best pizza and they sell deep dish that’s hard to find around here! I’m a huuuge pizza fanatic! Looked up their reviews on Google looked good to me so we said let’s give it a try! Drove 25 minutes out of my way to pick up the food! By the time I got home and opened up our food I was in utter disappointment! The pizza is not a Deep Dish pizza! When you think of Deep dish you think Chicago deep dish nope it’s a regular pizza except crust is higher! Pizza was so burnt as you can see from the pic that it was hard to eat! Also not sure what kinds a sauce was on the pizza but had a very odd smell and taste it was hard to explain but my kids couldn’t eat it! We eat pizza every Friday night from different places so we eat A lot of pizza and this was so disappointing as it came highly suggested and we drove far! Also with our order was cheesy breadsticks which were so doughy the dough was not cooked enough so we had to throw that away! In the end only thing that was tolerable was the mozzarella sticks that too was very doughy too but my kids and I were able to eat this it least. Not worth it in my opinion and truly...
