Pineloft Restaurant — Restaurant in Berlin

When we ordered pizza to go from here for the first time and I tried their pizza and I'm happy to report that it was very good. The pizza was the called the "Tuscany". It comes with spinach, garlic, sun dried tomatoes, chicken, basil, and olives. The first clue of how good this thing was, when the wind caught the aroma just right and I caught it in my nasal cavities... I usually am more of a traditional pizza fan, but my wife type individual wanted this kind, so I gave it a shot... So good! Another thing I learned is that they deliver (both figuratively and literally). Pick up was very fast and easy. The facilities are what drew me in to wanting to try this place. I like the look of the place in general, but it looks nice and clean. The staff here is friendly and helpful. It's official, this is my new favorite pizza place. I was surprised a bit by the Pineloft. I had heard so much about this place - friends come here for karaoke and my fiancé orders their pizza - and somehow, I was expecting a much bigger place. That is NOT a bad thing!

We stopped here on a rainy News Year's Day for a take out pizza. Although it was around 5 p.m. or so, there wasn't anyone here. The interior is decked out in a log cabin style - pine walls, floors, exposed beams and even whole tree trunks used as ceiling supports. Although the place is smaller than I expected, there seemed to be plenty of seating, with quite a few tables both on the ground floor and a loft above.

Our pizza was very delicious - we chose a large with steak, mushrooms, onions and ricotta as toppings. This was indeed a large pizza - about 16" and cut into square slices rather than the usual triangles. I loved the choice of having end pieces with crust or interior ones without.

I've been here three times now to dine in and every time the service was painfully slow. That this place has any good ratings at all completely baffles me. Maybe those better ratings were from customers who got take out. Their pizzas are excellent, but the quality of the food is completely offset by the poor service. The wait staff apparently also does double duty in the kitchen; they lose track of the sequence of orders and seem confused or maybe they just don't give a flip. That is a really bad reflection on the management. I waited an hour and a half for the appetizer, after reminding the waitress three times that I still hadn't got my jalepeno poppers. I wasn't going to get anything else after that debacle. Really, how can a place that operates this way stay...
