Red Oak Grille — Restaurant in Bernards Township

I have been going to the Red Oak Grille in the summer for many years! They always have a great selection of food and drinks, and the service is always very attentive. Would recommend stopping by if you are looking for a nice dinner with a view.

Food-wise, you can’t go wrong with any of their meat entrees (fish, chicken, and steak are always cooked perfectly). Their quesadillas and sandwiches are awesome too. Their dinner and cocktail menus change throughout the summer but everything is fresh and nicely plated. Last year they had a vegetarian cauliflower steak that was fantastic. They are also great with allergies.

Great views but terrible food! If only they could fix this….

Food used to be quite good a year ago but it’s really bad now. They may have a new chef and that could be the reason.

Yesterday we ordered the Bianca Flatbread and the bread was hard as rock so we couldn’t eat it. We also ordered a Sausage & Pepper Roll and the sausages were also very hard. Even the simple Churros we ordered for dessert was hard! How someone can go wrong with Churros is beyond me. Seems like they just heat up premade food and serve it to their customers. Nothing is freshly made. We feel they get away because the restaurant is located on a golf course and has good views.

The Red Oak Grille was the perfect place for a special mid week celebration for my daughter's college Graduation. When we alerted the ROG we would be way later than we had planned because of the long ceremony they were so gracious and accommodating and made me feel like I didn't have to stress about it. The cocktails are special, and everyone had something different that was delicious. We had a great bottle of wine as well. I had the strip steak, cooked to perfection with delicious sides, but everyone loved their good - salmon, steak sandwich, fish tacos, etc - all perfectly and attractively prepared.
