I guess we were just unlucky on the day we came here (about 2 weeks ago). I wasn't going to do a review but my wife saw a review on Facebook today saying everything is made from scratch, that motivated me to do this review...
I can say without question that nothing about the meals we ordered was made from scratch except, possibly, the lukewarm iced tea and the little bit of ice in it.
I ordered the Salisbury steak which was 2 patties of the same stuff you get when you buy Stouffer's or Encore frozen family packs. In any case it was not fully defrosted and when I pointed that out the cook came out of the kitchen, touched the two patties and said it was warm, I asked if they had a thermometer and she said yes but that she wouldn't be using it to check the temperature. They were out of rolls and offered a biscuit as an alternative.
My wife ordered a sloppy Joe with onion rings, we saw them take the onion rings from Kroger packaging along with Kroger fries. The sloppy Joe bun was squashed and the mix was like store brand (probably Kroger) with maybe 6 small pieces of hamburger. The onion rings were overcooked.
We left and offered to pay, to their credit they didn't expect to get paid if we didn't eat anything.
The waitress was nice but seemed unaccustomed to the profession.
The environment was pleasant but there did not seem to be any air conditioning and it was quite hot.
Like I said it might have just been bad luck or timing on our part. Maybe we will try again after they have been open a while longer, since most reviews here seem...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOk, I grew up in NJ, the land of 24/7 diners... so I am spoiled. ....With that history, Having a diner on this side of Lancaster is incredible. Food was great and timely, reasonably priced, the diner was a little bit warm but the AC just failed and they are doing their best to make the patrons comfortable.
The servers were friendly and professional despite a few minor mis-steps (come on folks, the place just opened!) The interior is a throwback to the old school diners, and you can see the owners are working hard to keep that vibe.
We stopped for a late breakfast, the Iced Coffee was great, the biscuits and gravy were much better than expected, the home fries were very well done, and the omelet was a good size and fresh. Nothing was overly greasy unlike most places in the area!
One star was removed from the review, not because of quality, portions or price, but simply because I expect this place to improve with time and experience. Give it a chance, support a local shop before we lose another! Pick up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time going here, the food was great. However the service was questionable at best. Our server was flighty and the staff seemed disorganized. We were told several menu items, were sold out, but the next table over were being told that wasn't the case and given those items. Was told my dish came with grilled chicken, received fried chicken, not upset, it was delicious, but the waitress honestly seemed completely lost. Since they were out of rolls I got a biscuit with my meal which was cold, straight out of the refrigerator cold. The iced tea tasted minty, when asked about it the waitress didn't understand what we were saying, ended up not drinking it. When we got the bill we waited up at the counter for 15 mins for someone to come cash us out. All in all, not the worst experience I've ever had but not great. Hopefully with some time the staff will settle in, again the food was great, will definitely try it again, but will wait...
