Best. Chicken. Ever. I chose the two-piece dark meat meal — drumstick and thigh, real mashed potatoes & gravy, a delicious roll, vegetable of the day (green peas), and dessert (bread pudding) — but next time I'm going for the ALL YOU CAN EAT option.
The chicken is "broasted," which I learned today means that it's fried in a pressure cooker. The result is a tender fall-off-the-bone meat packed with flavor, and a perfectly crispy, golden skin that actually crackles when you bite into it. This chicken made my eyes roll back in my head with my very first bite. I don't even like chicken skin, but I ended up nibbling every tiny bit of it off the bone and looking to my husband's plate to see if he had any left on his. He did not.
The service was friendly and fast. We sat outside on the covered balcony. The weather was mild for the end of July, and they had a couple of seriously strong fans running which left me feeling gritty because of the Bernice bridge construction dust in the massive volume of air that the fans moved over me. I don't think that would have bothered me as much on a hot day; in fact I'm sure I'd be grateful for the breeze.
Our meal for two cost us $40 plus tip. We had two iced teas, a two-piece dark meal, a three-piece dark meal, and an order of fried green tomatoes — which were also good but paled in comparison to the chicken.
This was our first visit to Indian Hills, but we will most definitely be back. Often. And next time we'll bring friends.
Highly...
Read moreUpdating review from 2-years ago, as we visited again this weekend. The prices are up quite a bit and no longer worth what you are getting. This time, I ordered a chicken/bacon "sub" for lunch and it had VERY little on it, VERY LITTLE. I was super disappointed with that and with the fries (bit overcooked). We also never saw the waitress after our food came out and we're shocked when we went to the front to pay as our bill was over $60 for 2 adults and 2 small children. Prices everywhere gone up, but this was really disappointing this time. It's very close to Bernice where we've camped a couple times, but now I don't think we'd come back to eat here again
What a surprisingly amazing meal! I say this, because this hidden gem is in the back of an RV park and boat slip, literally in the back of their "general store" for the RV park. Yet, the food was AMAZING! The service was fantastic as well! We were there about 1130ish in the morning and split between wanting breakfast or lunch. I had a Sunrise Burger which had a burger patty, cheese, eggs, and hashbrown, all on texas toast - it was tall and so so so so delicious!! Onion rings were stolen by the kids at my table - darn children, lol. Everyone had great food and cleared their plates. We stopped in the store for some take with us snacks as we were camping across the water from here. This was a GREAT FIND! I have already told like 5...
Read moreThe food was wonderful. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars for service is because we waited about 45-50 mins to get our food. It almost seemed like our order got "lost" when the lunch crowd started coming in as our server literally came back and asked if we had eaten yet. When we said no, she re-took our order. After that, our food came out very shortly after. Nonetheless, we will certainly be going back. We sat outside on a beautiful Sunday morning. We also...
