Absolutely fabulous. You get decent food and a view of a waterfall for s decent price.
I had a cup of the Elk Sausage, Kale and Potato Soup. It was wonderfully brothy and recommended by our server. I wish I'd ordered the bowl instead, but I'd have barely been able to finish it because I also had a Reuben. (The soup has changed slightly since I ate this, but it is still delicious).
The Dogwood Canyon Reuben stands out as one of the best Reubens I've had. It was not as strong on the kraut side as I normally prefer, but the cheese used blended so well that it was a master piece.
My wife had the trio sliders (bison, trout and chicken). All three were good. My daughter had the cheese pizza from the kids menu and said it was amazing.
The potato chips are good as a side, but you'll regret not ordering the fries. Crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside and delicious through and through. I had to share mine after I had them try one.
Our server was incredible. We mentioned getting out hiking bag out of the trunk before heading in and she fixed us some to go waters to take with us (and by the end of it, we were glad to have them).
I'll be back. We were too full to try dessert but the blackberry cobbler sounded divine.
Update: We came back a year later with some more family and everyone loved it.
I tried the Smoked Bourbon Peach Tea (perfectly sweet and smokey). It went well with the soup I ordered.
My daughter got the ham and cheese croquettes, which she did not like due to the texture (think melted ham and cheese inside a spherical breading). We all ate them for her however and they were good.
I split a Bison Reuben with my wife. It's one of the better Reubens I've had. A more mild taste, but it works.
My father (on a keto diet) raved that their vegetables are the best seasoned he has had. They are lightly blackened in a skillet and apparently a popular...
Read moreI really enjoyed this restaurant. The building is just absolutely beautiful with the barn style ax hewn post and beams. The mill wasn't running while we were there but it was unique to see the mill itself and all of the museum artifacts of Indian arrowheads and spearheads, and different artifacts. The menu at first seemed a little simple and not as many options as you would think ahead of time, however the food is absolutely wonderful. I ordered the barbecue brisket sandwich and it was just cooked to perfection, even the onions were so much different than most places, they were like a purple onion that had been sauteed and it was just really good, all of the ingredients were a top quality. The Aioli mayonnaise on the side for my fries was amazing, but you got to ask for that separate. Two of my family members got the club sandwich I believe and it was really good too. You will notice that the prices seem to be a few dollars more than a restaurant you might usually attend, however their portions are huge, so you definitely get your money's worth. The staff was extremely polite and studious in their work. It's a nice dining room as well with all the wood and decor and there's a beautiful waterfall and body of water to...
Read moreIt's such a shame. The Mill and Canyon Grill was at one point a brilliant restraunt with a great menu with a mix of locally sourced ingredients and carefully prepared cuisine. The great news is that you still get to pay those prices for mediocre food and beverages. I ordered a burger fries and their signature old-fashioned. It was all bad, plain burgers and fries, and I had to send their old-fashioned back. I've had thousands of old-fashions (I'm not an alcoholic it's my drink). I've been to the heart of bourbon country; this was an abomination. The second attempt was still bad. The wait staff got food wrong, then demanded to fix it and made a scene in front of the entire dining hall, loudly proclaiming they were more stubborn. Despite being told not too they then brought the food out (we are almost done eating at this point) and then made such a scene that I literally had to tell them they were making it 1000 times worse. About $140 for 4 people for lunch, appetizers, drinks, burgers, salads, and chili, all of which were well below expectations or historical experiences. It's such a shame. I used to love this restaurant, and my whole family talked all week about how excited we were to spend time...
