Mainely Local Yolks — Restaurant in Berwick

My camp neighbors told me to try this place, me and my family like to try as many different spots as possible and this place has great reviews so we were more than willing! Our service was not great, this could be we arrived a little late and they probably were getting ready to clean up and close etc, either way our waitress didn't check on us much, my wife was frustrated by this waiting for coffee refill etc.. The food was just ok imo, my wife and one of my sons is vegetarian, and they both ordered something with avocado on it, and they both said it wasn't right, I don't eat avocado but it looked a different color to me and they both wouldn't eat it, they did tell waitress but she didn't seem to be interested in listening or offering to remake or refund etc. The one thing we all enjoyed were the homemade muffins they were terrific but other than that we will not...

We came in as a party of three with a long wait. Understandable as it is a weekend during summer. There was one waitress/hostess mainly seating people coming in. We patiently waited while parties were seated and when it was our turn the waitress/hostess sat a party of two at a four top table. This party of two came in after us. It was abundantly clear that she was seating people she knew ahead of us. We continued to wait. Finally, when there were only our party and another that had just walked in. They called the other party that had just walked in instead of us. I have never see anyone blantanlty ignore a party that had been patiently waiting until we noticed we were being skipped over. Seems like a popular, busy spot. Tried this for the first time and got the hash omelette with sourdough toast and potato cakes. The omelette was overcooked and the hash was definitely from a can. (In my experience most good breakfast places make their own hash, so it's my fault for assuming it would be homemade and not specifically asking). The sourdough didn't taste like a flavorful, rich sourdough - was almost like plain white bread. The potato cakes were previously frozen hash browns that they fried up. The customer service was abrupt and clipped. The cost seemed high for the quality of the food. I honestly don't understand how they currently have a 4.8 star rating.
