Clorays Cafe — Restaurant in Bessemer

Online buyers and Dashers beware! I accepted a Doordash pick and dropoff request, arrived at the location, and was told that they are not accepting Doordash orders because they need to adjust their prices. (Followed by - "It's simple...Do you understand?") As a Dasher I do receive half payment, but that's still a loss during peak time because I have to spend 15+ minutes calling Doordash support to clear up the situation. Additionally, the customer is disappointed (and hungry) since they also have to sort things out. It's important for businesses in our community to do well, but it's time to hold them accountable for simple things like providing pricing for goods and services.

Unfortunately when I called at 11:58 a.m. to ask what's on the menu, I was greeted with, "We don't open until 12:00 p.m. Call back in about 15 minutes and I can tell you that." I replied, "Thank you. Good bye." and before I could finish saying good bye she hung up the phone. My friend and I were searching places nearby to get lunch today and when we came across this restaurant we thought the pictures of the food and reviews looked pretty good. We tried searching a menu online but could not find one and it didn't seem that one was posted online. Additionally, I ignored the review from another customer who apparently had the same experience as the one I had this morning 5 months ago and thought maybe the employee was having a bad day. I so wanted to be able to enjoy and support one of our own. This is the 3rd time I've driven over 35 minutes pregnant to eat here. The first time it said they were open, I was greeted by a startled woman who informed me that they were closed though the door was unlocked. The second time, the site said open and they were not. This final time, the sign says closed but the site says open at 6am. It's 7:28 I drove over again 35 minutes from home, pregnant, diabetic and hungry. Come on family, we have to have customer service😒
