We’ll, where to start? My son and his wife, my daughter and myself have been looking forward to coming to this restaurant for quite some time. It was something we looked forward to with great anticipation. Last Saturday was the big day and away we went. We were seated right away and had no wait at 4:00.
My daughter is 10 and ordered a hamburger and fries. My daughter-in-law ordered the walleye and perch and my son and myself ordered Porterhouse steaks. His was the XXL and mine the XL. I ordered mine medium well and he ordered his medium. He also advised that he was allergic to mushrooms and ordered sautéed onions on his steak. The fish was done to perfection for my daughter-in-law and my daughters burger was a little on the well done side. (She wouldn’t eat it)
My steak arrived and I was so excited, until I cut into it and is was rare. My sons steak wasn’t even close to medium as it was very red inside and barely warm. Our server was very respectful and quite friendly as she took my steak back to have it fired again. When she came back with it, it was literally brown inside and burnt on the outside. The server went and got one of the managers and when she came and saw my steak, she said it was supposed to be brown and it was done correctly. I said no, it was supposed to be medium well not well and should never be burnt.
At this time we could see she was getting upset and my son proceeded to tell her about his steak as well. She said she would have them redone and briskly picked up our plates and headed out of the room. When our steaks came back, mine was rare again and my sons was covered with mushrooms!! (Death by mushrooms is all I could think of!). The manager was very much angry at this time and asked him if he wanted her to have them make him another one or take it off of the bill? We’ll, we’ve already had a horrible experience by this time and we’re ready to leave! She then proceeded to say everything was the servers fault! Seriously? Was she supposed to cut our steaks into and make sure the kitchen cooked them right? I dare say not. Our server was rewarded with a hefty tip! The manager never asked me about my steak the last time around. I paid my bill and we left. On the way out, the manager did not even acknowledge us even though she looked right at us.
I realize our experience may be a rare one however; a bad experience it was none the less. We will not be returning to Bills Steakhouse in the future. The money we paid was enough to warrant better customer service. Especially from a...
Read moreWe were there about a month ago. We had a party of 13 - we were sat immediately. One person couldn’t make it in our party and we didn’t realize the person wasn’t there until we were seated. Once the host found out about our one missing person she became very rude and told us we were going to have to get up and leave. We explained we didn’t realize they weren’t coming. The host went and got the manager and proceeded to make a scene about us being one person short. So after a few minutes of shaming us we were graciously able to stay seated. Our waitress wasn’t the greatest- she took out initial drink order and then didn’t come back to see if we needed refills. We flagged her down to ask for napkins which we never received, and drinks which again we never received. I believe this poor service was because she knew the tip would be automatically in the bill since we were a large group. About 20 minutes after we got our food the bus girl was trying to pick up our plates and cups. After about 25 minutes of getting our food some of us were finished, someone (not sure if it was a waitress or another bus girl) not only took our plates but also took our cups. Another waitress or maybe even the manager came through and started to help the other girl and took our plates and cups and told us they were busy and people were waiting. Wow - we spent about $600 and we were told after 25 minutes of getting our food basically we needed to leave and Bills was ensuring that we didn’t linger by taking our cups This is very poor customer service. I understand it’s a steakhouse but to treat customers as if they are just herding in and out cattle is ridiculous. We have been to Bills more times than I can count in 20 years and through the years the service and food gets worse. I...
Read moreFirst of all, I used to love this restaurant, tried Valentines Day, but it was extremely busy. We returned this evening, May 16, 2023. I was very disappointed, the steak was ok. Not great, baked potato was small ( not hot, just warm). The salad was iceberg lettuce, a piece of cucumber and two petite tomatoes. They no longer serve buns, so we ordered breadsticks. The server was ok, not overly friendly but professional. The bill was presented, I looked at the total, put my credit card in the folder. When I opened the bill again, the total was different ( I checked the original bill) and there was a credit card charge. It was a couple of dollars ( I just think the wait staff should inform the guests) I had cash and would have paid cash, had I known. I did not see the mention of the fee on the menu, it was not stated by the waitress. I did not see it posted anywhere (if it was) I don’t like having an additional fee added to the bill, after the initial presentation and before the tip was to be added. My husband and I both agree after visiting Bill’s Steakhouse several times a year, for more than 15 years, we will not be returning. I’m sure we won’t be missed, but eventually when more guests tire of the additional fees, management may notice. Do restaurants realize that the customers pay fees to American Express and other card companies, then the restaurants want to charge the customers again to use that same card. Tip! Don’t add the fee to the second bill, before the tip is...
