Can't even begin to tell you how to disappointed I was in this place. We atmosphere is adorable, we walked in and it looked like your average local mom and pop restaurant. The menu look great, the prices were perfect.
We asked our waitress if they had any gluten-free bread options, we didn't expect them to, even that they're a local Pennsylvania restaurant. But we figured we'd give a shot. My 6-year-old granddaughter cannot eat gluten, she has verified celiacs. Isn't their problem, no. However all you wanted was a scrambled egg and a side of bacon. When we tried to order it are we just simply looked at us and said gruffly, "we don't do breakfast for dinner." It was 4:30 p.m., and I've spent 14 years as a chef, you cannot tell me that the cook would mind scrambling one single egg for a 6-year-old child.
The attitude from our waitress made us so angry that we got up and walked out. We paid for our chocolate milk, and then left for a chain restaurant because at least we knew the attitude there would be better. Very, very, very...
Read moreToday 3/8/18, we thought we would try again. Mistake......ordered chicken pot pie, chicken corn rivel soup, salad, Harvard beets. Soup was cold, sent it back to be heated. Now for real surprise, you get a chicken breast slapped on top of your pot pie, and wait until you hear this....it was gross, mine still had the wind pipe from the chicken and other gunk on the breast and my husband's was worse than mine. When he can't eat something it's bad.
Maybe give it another shot in 6 months....they say the 3rd time is a charm.
Oh well chalk it up to a learning experience or science project.
Below is our first experience here:
Meal was mediocre, dessert terrible. Chocolate cream pie was anything but creamy. Thickened with so much corn starch that it literally split apart. Breakfast is fine but unless you want a BLT or cold sandwich stay away for...
Read moreGot there. They said we are closed. Asked if there was any way I could even just get something to go. They said no. Asked for a recommendation nearby as we’d been on the road for 1.5 hrs to get there and still had over 2hrs to drive home. She pointed out the truck stop next door and a convenience store.
That’s all fine, maybe they did close a few minutes before I arrived. I didn’t find the suggestions helpful or funny. Sitting in the lot for a minute to regroup I noticed the door open and a man leaving with many take out boxes. So maybe he was there earlier? IDK but…what I do know is that it ended well. This happening sent us back to the map where we found that only a couple blocks up was the Eagle Hotel in Fredericksburg and that turned up a welcome face with a smile...
