Very beautiful looking place with a nice atmosphere. Lots of room and a ton of TV's. We sat at a booth and it had a substantial amount of space, you could fit 4 people comfortably on each side. The only thing that was bothersome was when it got dark the outside light kind of beamed in on us.
As far as our meals went it was half good and half bad. Our waitress was awful, she wasn't mean she just sucked at her job. We got our drinks and ordered an appetizer and the kid's meals. The straws that come with the drinks were way too long! Especially for the kid cups. They were twice the size of the cup, I ended up cutting them down with my pocket knife.
It had been 35 minutes and the waitress still didn't come back to get our regular order. We had to flag her down and remind her we needed to order. It took 40 minutes just to get the appetizer and kids meals. We got potato skins for the appetizer and they were excellent. However, they didn't bring out any little plates to share it with.
For the kids meals we got grilled cheese and fries and a kids pizza. The fries were good but the grilled cheese wasn't even melted. The pizza was served on a plate that was really hot. Considering it's for a kid they should have brought out a little plate to put it on. The pizza itself was really good, would have been better with pepperoni.
For our meals we ordered porterhouse steaks and chicken dumpling soups. Our sides were broccoli, baked potato, chips and fries. We never got our soups and I had to ask for them when our meals came out. Usually the soup or salad is served before the meal not with it. Also it took about 50-55 minutes to get our meal. My mom's steak was a nice cut. Mine, on the other hand, was awful. For a $26 piece of meat I was expecting a little less "gristle". The cut I got was terrible and barely had any bone in it. I barely ate any of it since I had a bunch of gristle to cut around. Also it doesn't state on the menu how it's going to be cooked. I was expecting it to be grilled and it wasn't. Not sure how it was cooked but I personally didn't care for it.
The broccoli was ok, a little too much seasoning. The baked potaoto was good but kind of small. The fries were good. The seasoning on the chips could have been put on better. Some chips had too much and some didn't have any at all. The soup was ok. It had a little too much of chicken bullion flavor, so much was added thar the soup was bright yellow. Not a bad flavor just a little over whelming.
The waitress barely came to check on us during our meal and didn't refill drinks without us asking first. It even took her 10 minutes to bring back boxes.
I asked to speak with someone about my steak because I was dissatisfied with my cut. I believe it was the chef that came out. He asked me what was wrong with it and I explained to him that I don't like a lot of fat and that I was expecting a nicer cut since I was paying $26 for it. He corrected me in stating that it wasn't fat that it was gristle. And that the fat and gristle give the meat flavor and that it was a top cut off meat that should be $40. I said I wouldnt buy this peice of meat in a store and I have gotten better cuts at Walmart for a better price. He proceeded to tell me that each piece is hand cut and that the meat was the top of the line. He asked me what I would like him to do about it and I explained that I wasn't looking for a free meal just wanted to let him know I wasnt satisfied with the cut. He told me he was sorry that I didn't enjoy my meal but ensured me that the cut I got was a good cut. Apparently in this situation the customer isn't right. I still believe I got a crappy cut.
Needless to say my overall experience wasn't that great. They did have signs up at then enternace stating that waits might be longer due to the high volume of customers that they weren't expecting. To be fair they haven't been open that long. Maybe in time I might go back. As right now I wouldn't and wouldn't recommend...
Read moreThis place has been on our list for a little while now but could never find the time. Finally got to try this place out on father's day.
The building is nice, inside is even better. The entrance is very nice and once inside looks almost elegant.
A large bar with 4 enormous flat screens grouped together at the bar. The bar is nice and long with what looks to be a fairly well stocked up assortment of liquors, craft beer and national names as well. The restaurant seems to be divided by a large fireplace...one side the bar with stools and high tables and stools. The other side is booths and tables and chairs. High ceilings throughout gives it a nice open air feel.
The floors are smooth concrete with a nice finish. One thing I noticed was the floor is slippery and looking down on the floor you could see a film of something..seemed to be in all the traffic patterns and got worse as you neared the kitchen and restrooms. I am assuming that is from the wait staff coming from the kitchen. Be careful caught me off guard.
When you come in you must see the hostess to be seated. Hostess was really nice and accommodating to our party of 6. Within minutes of being seated we were handed menus and our drink orders were taken. The menu comes on clipboards and is about 5 pages of items. You can look at the menu on the website if you so desire.
We ordered an appetizer, the pretzel, which you get 2 in the order with a large dipping sauce. Nobody cared for the pretzel, It was heated in a microwave to make hot and butter and salted afterwards. Now I don't usually have a problem with this, tasting like it was in the freezer even after heating it up I do. Needless to say, we didn't finish them.
The food had arrived... Everything looked good, nicely prepared. I had ordered the Philly Mac and cheese which consists of cut/cubed steak and onions and of course Mac and cheese. First bite had no taste, bland. Next with a piece of steak, onions and some Mac...still no taste to it.. luckily some table salt helped but I just could not finish the dish. Same for the other who had ordered the chicken Alfredo..he said it was bland as well...no flavor. The others had ordered a chicken sandwich, a steak salad and some sort of steak sandwich which all said they were fine with. Forgot to mention about the side I had which was french onion soup..it was just ok.
The bill was over $100. For all...not bad considering there were 6 of us.
I understand this place is fairly new and would expect a few growing pains till they get things worked out so I going to hold off giving my honest opinion till I go back and try again. Till then it's...
Read moreNo wait time and a very good server. Food on the other hand left a bunch to be desired.
For rst the appetizers.
Nachos with chicken: chicken was bland most likely boiled the cheese was only half melted. Absolutely, boring in flavor. Chips, cheese and chicken with two small cups one of salsa and one of sour cream. Some red onions and black olives could hide this disaster. Appetizer a 1 out of 5 stars.
Pretzel with beer cheese dip: the cheese dip was more beer than cheese and the only flavor was beer. No complexity just lumpy beer. Pretzel itself was good and done right. 2.5 out of 5 because it was half right.
The Meal
I wanted The Vic and arrived around 630 for dinner on a Friday and they didn’t have capicola. That’s poor planning for a Friday night. So I had to scramble to and decided on zottolas fire. It was to have generous amounts of spicy sausage and I ordered the chicken with it. My side was loaded baked potato soup.
Side easily was the highlight and I’d give a 5 out of 5 stars. Small portion, but I was ok with that. Not too much and that’s ok by me.
Now the reason I felt I needed to right the review. My dinner came without chicken. Yes I could send it back but at a table for 7 that’s not fair for everyone to have to wait for me. Should have been right first. The generous amount of spicy sausage was maybe 2 table spoons put in a banana pepper. The vodka sauce was basically vodka and tomatoes, but tasted just like vodka no depth of flavor. No parmigiana cheese. The noodles were done right, but that’s about it for the main course. At nearly $14 I’d expect a little more.
1 out of 5 stars because I didn’t get what I wanted either the Vic or the chicken with my pasta. Heck even some parmigiana and no I should have to ask for an item that should be provided with a pasta dish.
Atmosphere
The place is gorgeous and really busy but the staff out front was working diligently and hats off to them. Unfortunately, whoever was cooking should be ashamed. A gorgeous building that clearly cost a pretty penny, great hostess and the wait staff were excellent. Too bad the food just left me in a bad mood and an upset stomach. This just ruined my experience. Get someone that can properly prepare food with some flavor and this place would be a homerun. As it stands I’m out $60 plus tip (yes I tipped nearly 20% cash) because a waiter should not be punished for poor cooking. Excuse me while pray to the porcelain goddess some more.
Total overall I rated it 1 out of 5 stars because food makes or breaks a restaurant. And in this case...
