I ordered the "Center cut pork chops" with "whipped potatoes", "filling", a side of gravy, and "Kernel corn". They offered complimentary Bread with butter packets and I had Chocolate Peanut butter cake for dessert.
The chops had absolutely no flavor at all. I didn't even taste grill char. They were thin and fairly tough and dry.
Whipped potatoes were great texture, but again there was no seasoning.
Filling, basically boxed stuffing blended with whipped potatoes, had a little bit of the boxed stuffing seasoning taste. It was so faint you could miss it as it was blended with flavorless mashed potatoes. It was very gooey and had an uncooked texture.
Kernel Corn was canned corn with, shocker, no flavor at all. Not even a corn taste.
I used way took much salt and pepper to get flavor, but still needed to add more.
The bread was smashed generic dinner rolls that most restaurants offer.
The house made cake...... I was looking forward to it, but it was a double layer chocolate cake with absolutely no hint of a peanut butter taste. The frosting was supposed to be peanut butter, but was a major fail, even for homemade. It even tasted the frosting alone after a drink of water, and nothing but sugar. The chocolate cake was very rich and pretty good though.
Over all the servers were great and worthy of a star alone, but over all I found this to be a place more for folks who are without tastebuds or just looking for sustenance.
Very disappointing, especially considering it is so highly recommended by the comfort inn next door....
Read moreSo on a recent unexpected Tuesday morning, my brother and I had to go out to the state of Pennsylvania, where me and my brother we're picking up my niece who had been recently in a car accident. After checking out of the hospital and picking up the remains of her vehicle, we ended up stopping at this diner with her and her boyfriend and two of her friends who were traveling with her. Our waitress who I can't recall her name unfortunately, wasn't very helpful information on the menu as well as give my niece some Motrin. She also gave us information about local dry cleaners because they were heading to a wedding and they needed their clothes dry cleaned. She gave us the suggestion of the menu we ordered our food including Pennsylvania staple of scrapple, which no one at the table but myself have ever had. They were mesmerized by it. And while it was flavorful with a heavy overtone of sausage, I mistakenly put too much hot sauce on it and it ruined it. The homemade corned beef was pretty good, if not a little bit more pasty than I'm use to but flavorful and me and the other person ate it all.
As this was a one-time trip through the state I'm glad that we found this place and the waitress we had after a very stressful evening. Thank you and God bless you all for your assistance and I apologize to the waitress who take care of us because I don't...
Read moreA Pleasant Surprise! We stopped to eat at the Midway Dec. 14th 2018 just after Noon. The menu had something for everyone and was very reasonably priced! Our food, a roast beef dinner and a baked Haddock mac and cheese dinner were perfectly prepared and quite delicious! We didn't have time for dessert, which was a shame because they had apple dumplings and cakes galore! The chocolate cake near me on display taunted me by being almost as tall as the glass cake stands lid! We seen a customer leave after his lunch with an entire cake, which took him two hands to carry! The atmosphere was very casual and comfortable and the staff was attentative and super nice. The obvious regular customers sitting together were also very nice without being intrusive, loud or nosey. I'd highly recommend giving this diner along Rt.78 a try. Their location is easy on and off the highway and there is plenty of parking for cars as well as tractor trailers. A big thumbs up to the staff and owners of Trainer's Midway Diner! We will be back to try some of...
