I came here for the first time with mother and two brothers about a week ago after doing some Christmas shopping. My brother eats out a lot and has been here before and was insistent.
The atmosphere was fine. I'm not a fan of being in a room that dark to eat but I understand that some people do and that's the atmosphere they were going for. We all have different preferences and in not going to hold anyone accountable for having different taste than me. Our table was super wobbly which did such because my mother and I both got soup and it made it hard to not spill it everywhere.
She had the stuffed pepper daily soup special. I had french onion. She said hers was very good and hot. Mine was good but room temperature.
They all ordered burgers of some variation, all cooker well. First of all, one star rating on my family's poor taste on how to prepare food. The restaurant should have called the police and had them arrested for public embarrassment. I don't know how well they enjoyed their overcooked jerky sandwiches. I didn't ask. I was too offended by order to engage in their deviance.
I ordered the Mexican street corn pizza. It was decent. Nothing to go crazy over. It didn't come with the sauce on it, which in fairness, the menu said optional. I had never been there before and just ordered it, assuming the server would prompt me on anything. She didn't. I didn't speak up either as she grabbed my menu and turned around.
The staff all seemed friendly. At least those were interacted with which was just our server and the hostess. Unfortunately the server wasn't very attentive. We waited a good while for our order to be taken, to be checked on and even longer for the check. There were only about half a dozen tables with customers in viewing distance, and I saw multiple servers. I don't know what goes on elsewhere, however.
All in all, it wasn't my favorite experience but it sure wasn't my worst. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back. I don't live near by, so I wouldn't make that kind of drive unless it was in my top choices, anyway. If I was with my extended family again and they wanted to go, would I put up...
Read moreWow! First time here and it was great! Celebrated my SO's bday and it was romantic and delicious! Our waitress was super sweet and did an excellent job. We started with pulled pork on onion rings with Cole slaw underneath as an appetizer and it was really good! The pork had a nice smokey taste to it, the rings weren't soggy or greasy and the slaw wasn't over powered by mayo or anything. It worked well together. I got the half smoked chicken with potatoes and shaved Brussel sprouts. Yum! And for the first time ever (I've always wanted to try this!) I got risotto. It was mushroom to be exact. Really good too! My SO got a cheeseburger and said it was amazing! And he's a bit of a burger snob. The prices were a bit high but it was a Celebration so we splurged a bit. The unsweetened tea was also good. I didn't even need any sweetener. I read another review that scored it low but like, you got unsweetened tea and it's even on the receipt you showed as proof... Don't fault the restaurant If you can't figure out that you ordered it that way... Overall, we definitely will be back! The decor was warm and inviting. It was a place where you could dress up for a fancy evening or be like us and wear sweats and pajama pants. Thank you for making his bday special by...
Read moreIt was our second time here, and things were fantastic as ever! My rare prime rib was as rare as it can be gotten, with my two complaints only being the modern trends of barely warming green beans and calling them cooked, and of stacking food. Mom's veal came a good, juicy medium, just as she ordered, and had perfect grill marks. The Marsala sauce was also smooth and flavorful, the tang of the wine blending perfectly. Again, her meat was sitting on raw green beans and the starch, but she got the wild rice instead of the mashed potatoes, so it wasn't quite as ridiculous. The only one that was disappointed was my sister, who ordered the lobster ravioli. Honestly, I've never ordered these in a restaurant and thought they were worth the money, and it was the same here. It may have been different if it was heavily garnished with the langostinos that were mentioned on the menu, but it actually didn't come with any. All in all a great meal, with the meats and other ingredients being high quality and properly prepared, delivered by friendly, professional service in an environment that's clean and upscale without being pretentious. At this price point, I can't say it's going to be a regular visit, but I do look forward to...
