My family decided to stop by the Dakota Dunes location tonight after family pictures. We got there around 6:00 I think, and our experience for started off pretty poorly. There was one host taking a phone order and did not acknowledge our existence in any way. There other hostess whom I believe was in training at least I hope she was because all she said was, "It will be just a few minutes." And she was right but no explanation or any other communication until the host was done taking the phone order. He then told us that he had to go check if the table we were to seated at was clean. He came back quickly and seated us. We then waited for approximately 1 0 minutes without any service; keep in mind I have two small children, 4 and 5 years old, that can be a handful when trying to keep calm some times. After the about ten minutes the host and hostess were cleaning a table next to us and I informed the host that we hadn't gotten any service yet. He said he was sorry and went to get someone. After waited several minutes my 5 year old had to to the bathroom and my wife took her. That was when our waitress finally appeared for the first time. I was quite agitated at this point and told her that we had already waited for ten minutes without any service. She apologized but it did not go to far out of her way to seem sincere. I was only able to put in our drink order for two waters and two children's lemonades. My wife and 5 year returned to the table in the mean time. She return only moments later with two waters and one lemonade, which she apologized for. She then took our order of chicken wings and a pizza, and then left to bring us another lemonade. After she returned with the lemonade we did not talk to her the rest of the night because she never returned to the table with any sort of apology or timeframe in which we would be getting our food. After about 45 frustrating minutes we left, and as we were leaving I told the host that we were done and they could cancel our order. He made no effort what do ever to rectify the situation of even offer much of an apology. We stopped by McDonald's on our way home and were far more pleased with the quality of...
Read moreDisclaimer** you’ll notice the people running this place care more about paying “local guides” fees to give them good reviews, rather than hiring a competent staff and giving any ounce of customer service to patrons. Hence 1-2 stars by regular people and all 5 stars from “local guides”. The following is my cautionary tale of dining at a terrible restaurant:
A $1 Totino’s pizza cooked on the motor of your car, would be warmer, taste better and have more toppings than P’s Dakota Dunes’ $20 garbage - especially if you’re picking it up to go. This place doesn’t have a clue. How can take-out be cold when you show up within 10 minutes after ordering (as waiting on “their timeline” has never once been within 30 minutes to accurate - their kids never remember to put phone orders in) and wait until the second it’s pulled out of oven (sans microwave) and it’s still cold.
Seriously, it’s been nearly 2 years, and this place’s terrible service has actually digressed (as has the once OK food). I want to like it, as it’s the only real full service restaurant choice off exit 1, and I optimistically keep thinking it’ll improve, but embarrassingly (for me and them) only gets worse. Coupled with some of the slowest & awkwardly, untrained staff I have ever seen, these owners literally either don’t care or are just hoping the place burns down for insurance money ($$ on the latter).
I would have attached a picture of my 2 orders of “1# boneless wings” - upon opening when I arrived home, but they forgot to put them in bag. im the clown for not checking beforehand and continuing to try and dine here🤡
Do yourself a hardy favor and pick up a pizza lunchable, haphazardly smear the toppings with a stick, spit on it, put in microwave for 10 seconds and it’ll win a blind taste test, side by side with P’s Pizza’s best...
Read more3 strikes… you’re out P!
Special thanks to the Sioux City Musketeers for crushing their I-29 rivals from Sioux Falls (7-2) and getting us fans free pizza! What a great game!!!! Then we tried P’s the next day to claim said free pizza slices. It's all downhill from there.
Strike 1: Didn’t honor the musketeers 6 goals free pizza slices for for carryout orders. Why not, I’m a paying customer like everyone else?
Strike 2: Called at 4:17pm to place order. Was told 25-30 mins. They didn't have my coal-fired pepperoni pizza and cheese bread ready until 5:08pm. 51 minutes for your signature pizza as a carryout order is laughable. Then at 6:52pm I get an automated text saying my order is ready. Haha, really!?
Strike 3: Finally, getting to try the famed coal-fired pizza. We were severely disappointed as the bottom char was nice to see, but excessive for our tastes and the top of the pizza was under-cooked. The cheese bread was also very blond in color. Not done all the way. Not appealing.
I could tell they were somewhat busy by the visible, uninviting cluster at the front doors upon arrival. That said, you can’t see much with a desk in front of a giant wall.
We went out of our way to try this place (living 20 minutes away) and were left with a sour taste in our mouths. My family will be 1st and last time customers in part to their terrible service and average pizza at best.
P.S. Why not have a quarters machine for the kids who want to exchange mommy and daddy’s money for to play the arcades? The folks working at the front appear busy enough without doing that also. I didn't take it out on them because its not their fault. The ownership and management should be embarrassed. This place could be so much better,...
