Gramma Nell's — Restaurant in Birch Tree

We stopped in for lunch on our way to Mountain View as the reviews mostly looked very positive. We sat down and eventually someone came over to take our order. After we gave our order, I noticed several others coming in and waiting much longer than we did for someone to finally come and at least acknowledge that they were there.

When our food came, which was brought out individually in staggered times, it did take awhile for everyone to get their food. The items ordered were all good but the service was definitely lacking. This is just a guess but I bet it took an additional 20 minutes for everything we ordered to finally be brought to the table. The final things were just basic items too, like condiments, cottage cheese, etc, so nothing that needed to be cooked.

Overall take -- The price for everything was very affordable, food was great but the service from the waitress was definitely lacking. Not sure what had been going on in the bathroom for the sign to be posted on the mirror but I'm guessing it was something that required a lot of...

My favorite feature of this place is that the food was cooked to order. I had some chicken strips which obviously had just been prepared. That's so much nicer than things that live under a heat lamp for a long time before they are served. My only complaint about them was there was no sauce or gravy served with them. I was there with a couple of other friends. One of them had a chicken fried steak and the other had one of the burger selections. They were both quite happy with the food. The people there were very nice...

Hamburger steak was huge & great, mashed potatoes were cold & chunky, cheese sticks ordered as appetizers came with my food and were overcooked & hard. They were out of or not serving several items on the menu, service was quick & friendly...but waitress didn't check back up on us enough, prices were good, and it was pretty empty so not much atmosphere to rate... Other than it was clean! Oh yeah, the salad bar...
