Marlin's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Bismarck

I was dinning in the Saturday the 10th around 1:00 am the wait staff was but one server taking on an entire restaurant by herself. The bartender had just finished her shift and came over to help. The cook came from the back and helped as well. Just before these 2 stepped out this server had a very negative customer. A woman sitting by herself who was super super impatient with lack of courtesy she repeated herself over and over again yelling louder and louder for a box. A group of four very amazing people were sitting next to her one women from the party looked over and said “knock it off can’t you see she’s busy” and proceeded to put this women in her place. The women was of a different race so the comment prior to mine was made and twisted to look like racism. That comment is far beyond the truth. All parties involved neither of them were “RACIST” this entire moment had nothing to do with race. That serve repeatedly thanked these wonderful humans crying her pretty little eyes out saying I wish more people had the guts to do what you did the service was beyond amazing with the help of the bartender and cook. If it wasn’t for them I don’t think that poor girl would have made it through the night. She was so amazing. This restaurant is definitely somewhere I’d visit again. I've never had to write a bad review, but we've come here a few times and each time service has been slow. Today, was definitely the worst. To start, I waited 20 min for someone to acknowledge me. After watching people come in and get their drinks, I finally asked a waitress if anyone was servicing the table I was sitting at. After some more time, someone came to take my order. Then, a different person came and gave me my ticket. I told her I haven't even gotten my food yet. She said she was leaving and asked if I wanted her to give my ticket to another server. I said sure, to whoever is going to serve me. The only positive was the smothered chicken was very good. Took a long time to get my meal and the server said their system went down. Another server apologized to the table that came in after ne and offered them a discount. After overhearing that, I asked if I'd get a discount also and I was. Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon. Not at all crowded. We were seated immediately. Our server took a while to come to the table and when she did, she appeared disoriented or unorganized. Maybe both. Took our drink order then repeated it to us three times. Left to get the drinks and came back again to double check what we ordered.

Several minutes later, she reappeared and took our order. My husband ordered hamburger steak with a salad and two sides. One of his sides was vegetable medley. When his plate arrived, he had corn. Sent it back and she was coming “right back” with his correct vegetable. Never happened. She never came back by until we were finished. Kept offering us pie. We did not want any, but she insisted, for “Father’s Day” and said she would make it to go. So he ordered a slice of peach pie, which we also never received. Finally, we just paid the check and left.
