Russell's Triangle Cafe — Restaurant in Bismarck

We live local and had never tried them out. Had some free time so we stopped by. Smoking and non smoking were completely separate areas which was nice since I'm pregnant and the smell of cigarettes make me want to puke most of the time.

We had a crabby 2 year old who was crying until he got his food and the waitress never seemed annoyed or bothered, even when he had an attitude when she talked to him. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️sorry again.

But we ordered a grilled cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried mushrooms, pasta salad and chicken fried steak. As well as a cheese burger and fries for our toddler.

The grilled cheese was very cheesy, hot and delicious.

Mashed potatoes and brown gravy had a good flavor and werent a bland potato flavor like alot of places.

The fried mushrooms were good and came by the plate full!!! Great amount for the price.

Pasta salad was good.

Chicken fried steak was good, wouldve been better if they had the white gravy available but unfortunately only had brown gravy for the day.

I figured the burger maybe a frozen patty but it came out and was actual beef, I'd compare it to a steak burger. It smelled delicious and my picky crabby 2 year old loved it.

The French fries were perfectly fried and delicious.

A very confusing breakfast experience. Had the Russel Breakfast, fried potatoes, 3 eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. Biscuits and gravy were great Eggs were scrambled were awful tasted of old burnt grease. Bacon was cooked to death. Potatoes were good, real russets, sliced and fried. Seating was cluttered, smoke was chewable, table was dirty. There was a separate non-smoking area but I was informed that a party was taking that so the only seating was in the smoking side. Overall a disappointment, I had seen the location as I had been driving hwy 21 from Caledonia to Potosi and decided that a good hole in the wall diner for a country breakfast was the thing to do. Unfortunately, I was so wrong. People were friendly, but it didnt make up for the lack of cleanliness or the poorly prepared...

I'll admit, at first I was sceptical, but everything turned out to be great. I love the homey feel of the place. The food was fantastic! I especially loved the strawberry shortcake (I think that's what it's called, I'm not really sure). The waitress was very nice and she even complimented my hair. When my family ate here we had about 16 people with us total and the staff were very quick to refill the food on the buffet when something ran out. We had all just come from my uncle's funeral and the flag out front of the Cafe was at half-staff for him, which was a very kind gesture that we appreciated very much.
