Okay so here it is... Recently visited Chileen's On 17. Clearly we've ALL, most of us, have heard about them on "Bar Rescue". Move on already... Chilleen's is no longer what they were known for. Let's focus on the now.
First time here and from the time you pull up you can smell it. YES! Pure "deliciousness". Your mouth waters and the hard part is being able to stay focused. As you wait to be seated and ALL of this "deliciousness" served to other customers.
How do you know when a restaurant is truly AMAZING? Answer: No one is talking while their eating!
I started with potato skins and burnt ends as an appetizer. "Lord have mercy". The potato skins were average, not great, but average. The burnt ends though... My apologies my mouth just started watering again. Having flashbacks of "deliciousness".
Went with a group who are "familiars". They tried to warn me about the burnt ends, I didn't listen. WORTH IT!!!
Ordered the Steak, with Corn on the Cob, Mac N' Cheese, loaded baked potato. Then Country Fried Steak with mashed taters and gravy, and more Mac N Cheese; "Don't judge me f**kers". And YES I ordered more burnt ends too!!! Finished off with a dessert of my servers choice.
Wow... The sides were average, not GREAT, and not bad average. Now the Meat... That's another story. Y'all already know about the burnt ends, that Country Fried Steak? That's made with L-O-V-E!!! Homemade!!! And the steak old school steak done right. Not over flavored on "infused", just right.
Did I eat it all? "IT DOESN'T MATTER" IF Big Sid ATE ALL!!!! Mind your own business. Of course not!!!
It didn't help that my AMAZING & STUNNING waitress Ms. Cindy, didn't make it easy on me. "You gotta try this. You gotta try that. Oh you absolutely gotta try this". And I did, hence dual entrees, dual appetizers, and gosh darn dessert!
What's worse, Big Sid had to drive back to town FREAKING FULL!!!
Overall Chileen's On 17 is locally owned and worth the drive. Go enjoy a good meal with people you care about. "I'll be back", hope to see y'all there.
Sincerely Full, Big Sid, Proud...
Read moreMy wife, grand-daughter and I travelled from Tolleson, AZ to eat at Chilleens based on a recommendation. At the seating podium we stood waiting to be seated. An elderly female employee came over, looked at me and sat behind the podium. She didn't attempt to provide us service. So I asked for a table, she rudely replied, "Ain't got no tables, only booths". My wife gave her a scowl. I noted there were 3 empty clean booths directly in front, but she went over to a corner table, cleaned it and sat us there. She sat us at the most wobbly table, next to and almost hidden by the adjacent dining rooms doors. Not a good start. Anyway I ordered the appetizer with deep fried mushrooms and zucchini, but it was never put in and we didn't get it. I Ordered diet Pepsi with grenadine, but I couldn't taste the grenadine. I ordered the World Famous Chicken Fried Steak with vegetable medley and cowboy beans at $15.99. I got an over cooked tough piece of chewey breaded meat, it had no real shape. The ends were dark like burnt. The vegetable medley was just steamed broccoli, no medley. But my wifes pork ribs were the best and my grand-daughter enjoyed her menu choice. I related my dissatisfaction to my server and the elderly female employee too. She said that it was unacceptable, and some money needed to be deducted from my bill. The restaurant took off one whole dollar, didn't offer to cook another chicken fried steak. My server didn't take care of me. Had my wife not ordered more than she could eat, I wouldn't have eaten. It appeared that there were more customers than the scheduled servers could attend to properly. My wife asked our server for bread, he acknowledged and was not seen again, until later, alot later. To be fair, I believe I need to visit Chilleens again, to ensure that night was or wasn't a fluke. The restaurant did have a large birthday party group, does that mean I should have recieved the service I did. One...
Read moreThis restaurant was on Bar Rescue years back. I was really disappointed with the food here. Everytime we head north we pass by this place and always say we will try it one day. That day was today. I looked up the menu online and everything on the menu looked delicious. The server was nice but the food wasn't good. We arrived here at around 8 after a full day of shopping up north. I asked if they had coffee since it was late and the server said she could have it brewed. The coffee arrived warm as if it was sitting there all day and then heat up in a microwave for 30 seconds which is not enough time to get it hot and fake a fresh brewed cup. I ordered the Broiled Cod Filet, that is supposed to be grilled with butter and garlic. I did not taste the butter, nor the garlic. I was hoping that the 3 pcs. of Cod on my plate would come smothered in butter and garlic even though the menu didn't say that. But, I still couldn't taste either one. I had to put salt on the fish. For my side I had broccoli and mac n cheese. The broccoli was steamed. It came out super green and dry, I again had to use salt. I didn't eat the Mac n cheese, but what they brought out looked like Velveeta shells with cheese. I can't speak on the taste, but my partner ate some of it. My partner ordered the brisket sandwich which he said was pretty good. I took a piece of his brisket and it was literally cold. He didn't seem to care. He had fries with his sandwich which he said was like Burger King fries and was not soggy. He finished his fries. He did like the ranch sauce he asked for with the fries. Lastly, the men's toilet was nasty according to my partner, so as much as I needed to use the women's bathroom, I didn't even bother... There you have it. My...
