On my way home from my daughter's softball tournament in Elgin, I decided that I needed a hand mixed milk shake. I proceeded to search my route home for a place to find just that, and voilà, I was presented with Candy's Creamery in Geneva! I looked at the directions and the map and thought, "hmmm this seems weird it would be in the middle of a subdivision", Mill Creek to be exact. It's been a long while since I've driven through there, since I don't live in the area, and let's just say, it's really grown! They have like their own little town going on in there, and one of the shops is Candy's. What a pleasant surprise, this is a hidden gem for sure! Candy makes all of her own stuff, small batch, hand crafted, creamy awesomeness. She has many flavors of ice cream, fruit whip, and Italian ice. She also provides a long list of topping options, and makes hand mixed milk shakes as well. There are cake cones, waffle cones, cups of different sizes and ready to go pints, or she is always ready and willing to pack you a pint of whatever flavor your heart desires. I know I said I was looking for a hand mixed milk shake, but upon seeing all of the yummy things on the menu, I changed my mind! I ended up going with one scoop of cookies galore, that one is vanilla ice cream with cookie dough and oreo, I topped it with ghiradelli chocolate sauce, whip cream and oreo crumbles and it definitely did not disappoint. I spoke with Candy for quite awhile and she told me how they are peanut free, since so many children and adults are now allergic, she wanted to have a place where they can come to enjoy ice cream safely! We spoke about the struggles of small businesses, which is echoed in most of the small businesses that I frequent. People are sadly all about convenience and not as much about quality. Candy keeps her prices very reasonable, she wants people to be able to afford to enjoy going out for ice cream, despite the current economic struggles many families are experiencing. She and her children run the Creamery and live right there in Mill Creek. She hopes that more people will come visit her shop and taste the difference in her products which she makes with so much joy and care! I promise you, you'll most definitely taste the difference! If we want small family owned businesses to survive we need to support them and help spread the news of how great they are! My family lives exactly 34 min away from Candy's, but it was so great that we will definitely be making it a place we visit more frequently, it's very much worth the drive!!!!

OMG. Where has this place been my whole life? We stopped by yesterday and we got some scoops! The UBE was incredible! And the blueberry swirl was fantastic. I hope they keep it all season long!!! The owner was so sweet and accommodating. She let us sample whatever we wanted and was so patient!! We loved the ice cream so much we came back for more right after we finished the first round!!! Haha this is definitely going to be a new regular spot for us!!! Highly recommend this place!!!! :)

Did someone say UBE!! After a long swim meet morning, we needed a sugar fix and wanted to try a local ice cream shop. Long behold, how lucky are we to find Candy's creamery! We found out all the favors are made from scratch in the store by the owner Candy. After a lot of sampling, which were all amazing, both my son and I went back to Ube, it packed with favor and unique from what you will find else where. My youngest loved the fruit whips! So it's our family after swim...
