Maybe 2-3 tables of guests here n we arrived about 1:15pm. We waited 30 minutes on our food. Our server, Skylar was super nice but not at attentive. The food wasn’t all that tasty n the ranch dressing tasted soured n the pre made salad was all wilty n the outside scenery was negative today the least. Green algae was in the very little water n no water fall n there was a trash can sitting out in the middle of the yard with plant shavings it, looked like from a palm tree that the top was taken down. We’re use to the scenery being more inviting n pretty. Nothing at all was anything like that. I think will be a very long time if ever we come back. We will probably visit the other one idk when tho. The only nice thing about this place is that our server was nice n all smiles but also in the same note was not at all attentive. We had to wait for some time for things needed n drink refills. N especially with us being her ONLY table was jus unacceptable. She was no where to be seen n also workers standing around talking which made nonsense cuz no business. But maybe preparing for the Friday night rush, no clue. I didn’t take pics of the trash can with all the clippings cuz I was more so focused on the other…trying to find a pretty pic to do a Tik Tok video to be more honest. Downhill Restaurant n especially when prices are so high n times we live in just could have...
Read moreTook my family to eat today and it was no where near what it once was. The service was subpar at best. It took forever to get our drinks. Well we asked for straws because its a public cup. We waited at least 20 minutes for straws. So we asked when the waitress finally walked by and she says oh yeah and went to get straws. Next everyone orders and after a very long wait our food came. My fish was very tough to chew you could absolutely tell this was not fresh fish. The shrimp was overly fishy tasting. I asked for green tomato relish and never received it. There was no lemon for the fish either. My wife ordered the grilled shrimp which was covered in blackening seasoning. Her meal was suppose to come with seasoned vegetables and they were out so she substituted with a side salad which ended up being the only thing she ate. The beans hushpuppies and coleslaw served as appetizers were the best part of the entire meal. My daughter did not eat her steak said it was over cooked and very fatty. The chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes were just nasty. The breading was not done on the chicken the outside looked fine but once cut I to the batter was raw. The mashed potatoes with gravy tasted sweet. I spent $110 today and we left over half the food on the table. I seriously hope they figure out what's going on because it's never been like this anytime we've ever...
Read moreWow! I haven't been here in a few years and was sad to see how much the ambiance and upkeep of place have gone downhill.
I visited last night for carry-out and will start by saying that the staff is still amazingly friendly and the bathroom was pristine. Otherwise, the shelves that used to hold an array of country craft items (think Cracker Barrel) were completely bare, save a very few Catfish Village t-shirts. The decor now looks dingy instead of rustic. There was even a little spider suspended mid-air that I almost walked into in the lobby despite the ceilings being at least 15ft high.
Also, there was a foul smell in the parking lot that got stronger as I approached the waterworks that surround the entrance. Maybe a part of the flow is stagnant and repair is needed, but I couldn't investigate because it was dark.
I ordered baked fish and fried green tomatoes. The fish and sides were fresh and excellently prepared, but the breading on my tomatoes was not fully cooked. And there was no dressing given for them or the mushrooms in my order.
I've been coming here for decades, but I'm unsure that I'll return. Despite the great food and service, I wonder what's not being maintained in the kitchen if what I can see/smell as soon as I get out of my car isn't being kept up well. This place seems to be on its last leg. I'd rather remember it...
