Sadly, it looks like my review will be added to the other reviews left this last year. And, by the looks of it? It seems the lack of customer service will not be changing any time soon. I had seen this company posting non stop of Facebook for many months and was eager to try it. They have ZERO issues posting on social media, the post in groups, on their own page etc. We drove 30 minutes to their establishment from the city. We had people from out of town and not to mention a very hungry boy on the autism spectrum. One thing that is not mentioned online is it is ONLY a drive-thru facility. They have no restaurant and only a picnic table outside to sit on. When we called (from the parking lot) to make our order to go the woman who answered the phone (the owner) acted like I was wasting her time by asking her questions about her products on her menu. As someone who had never been there before? I was not sure about their options or some items on the menu. Each question was made with a sigh of annoyance with a response acting as if I should have "common sense" about it. She then began to continuously put me on hold while she helped the people coming to the drive thru line. I sat there and watched car after car come through while constantly putting me on hold. As I finally start to order, her husband shouts from the back that they are out of stock of the item we were ordering. The owner and her husband continued to talk about what they were out of stock about. I made a comment about how it sucks that we came all the way down from the city and it was a 30 minute drive. She ignored me. Then, proceeded to say all they had was some "Sausage" and a little of something else and felt they "didn't have enough to accommodate our party. I again let her know that is frustrating that someone drives that far to be told that and all I got was a "Sorry." And, she got off the phone. The customer service sucked, the phone etiquette sucks, they can't even communicate to each other what they are low on. You post all over the city telling people to come to your business? But, you can't take 2 minutes to post that you're out of stock? Or low on something? This company does not care about wasting your time. That is great their food is "good" but at some point? You are going to get less customers when treat them they way you do and act like their time isn't important. Luckily, we went to another restaurant in Newcastle that took care of us. We spent over $100 worth and the staff...
Read moreDO NOT come here for a burger. When they announced they were now serving burgers, we wanted to finally give them a try. My expectations weren't super high, but being a small local BBQ place, I thought I'd at least get something of decent size and at least well-seasoned. Nope. It was pretty close to exactly what you'd get from a Lion's Club/church fundraiser tent at the state fair. Plain, unseasoned thin single patty, single slice of cheese, plain bun. That's it. They said there would be vegetables on the side (lettuce, tomato, etc)... We didn't get any at all. Super disappointing, especially for such a small business.
The only reasons for three stars: The smoked mac & cheese on the side was decent, I'd say that's worth trying. And in fairness, we still haven't tried their BBQ, and I'd want to do that before judging the business completely. But based on the burger alone, this would be a one star review.
UPDATE 6/13 - Downgrade to two stars. We gave them another chance. Brisket was too fatty, and the good pieces weren't that great. Barbecue sauce is average. Smoked mac and cheese was weird (smothered in queso?) and spicy this time, nowhere near as good as last time, so that was inconsistent.
The nachos were decent, except there was a large chunk of fat mixed into them. The chicken sandwich was good. So it wasn't all bad, but this is two times in a row we've had significant issues here, so we likely...
Read moreWhenever My husband and I try a new restaurant, we like to share whatever we order, so that is what we did with our very first order at this establishment. My husband absolutely loved the pulled pork. I don't care that much for pulled pork, but I thought it was delicious, it included pickels and onions. We purchased 2 sides, coleslaw and potato salad. The potato salad does not taste like traditional ps, but it tasted really good, the veggies in the potato salad had a nice crunch. The coleslaw had the right amount of liquid (wasn't soupy and dripping with each bite) and tasted fresh. I can't tell you what their bbq sauce tastes like because we did not get any with our order. I would recommend this establishment if you haven't been. On their menu, it states to call your order in. There...
