First of all, today was my first visit to Mill Town. Like most, I was attracted to the 20$ a person all you can eat crawfish and shrimp buffet. Not sure what days they do it on. We go by their Facebook page. That's really cheap!
The crawfish were easy to peel and delicious. Not overly spicy but flavorful. The shrimp were more spicy. Also, I loved the fact that when I showed up at around 6pm roughly...there was probably over 150 pounds out. No one had to wait.
The environment. We ate in an enclosed outdoor area, wooden benches...nice and comfortable. Maybe in summer it'll be less comfortable but tonight it was nice.
Inside, the place reeks of local flavor and even just a homely feel. Local honey, pickled this and that... Homemade lotions, soaps, and candles.
Last but not least, the beautiful wood and metal work in the rear of the building. Truly some very nice work that will make you want to drop a 100$ bill quick.
The man that owns it.... Polite and spoke of his dreams of expanding the place to include and inside eatery (with A/C) and stuff. He is running a nice business and nothing was more awesome than eating crawfish then looking at unique handiwork. Thanks for a...
Read moreStopped here for lunch while in town. Now, in Bogalusa there aren't many options. But this one is one of the better I think. The salad bar is nice. But, I got the bbq. It's ok bbq. The baby back ribs I got were the best thing on the plate. They were good but not exceptional. The pulled pork could be better. I do not like when my pulled pork is already sauced before I get it. It's usually a sign of poor bbq. But I don't think it really is that poor. So, adding the sauce was a detriment in my opinion. If you want sauce you can add it yourself. The sides were hit and miss. I got the Rotel Mac n cheese and it was as bland a side as I've ever had. I don't understand how you can get Mac n cheese to have the color and all but taste that awful! That's saying alot because I eat a lot of Mac n cheese and am very forgiving but this wasn't good at all. I also got the jambalaya and it was fine for sure. No complaints there. I was a little irked they didn't ask if I wanted a drink. When I got the price I assumed it was included. But I'll chalk that one up to my having not been here before. Anyway, it's worth a stop since there aren't many...
Read moreAs much as I love our homegrown boiled blue crab, my favorite crab to eat is the Dungeness. This place has the absolute BEST Dungeness crab I've ever had.... twice. They're perfectly cooked and then drowned in a salty, garlic butter with just a touch of spice. The potatoes are cooked to perfection and they sit with a corn on the cob in that same guilty pleasure butter bath. The shrimp are also cooked to perfection (also drowned in the butter) and we also got the fried turkey wings once and geeze they were good. Even though they were good, I recommend everyone to not waste their time with the snow-crab because everything else is so much better. Every time we've been there was well worth the money.. My next trip there I'm going to try the lobster. I wish I had some pictures to post, maybe I'll get...
