This place is six stars!! We stopped in on our way home after a 10 drive... In need of replenishment that didn't consist of food from a chain. After searching hard, we found this cafe. Where else can someone get an entire meal...I mean AN ENTIRE MEAL (dessert included) for eight dollars?! THIS PLACE! To top that off, it's mostly homemade! (the mashed potatoes were instant, for example) The atmosphere is homely and extremely relaxed. They have menus to peruse, but all around the restaurant there are white boards with the days specials which I assume must change. With a dinner purchase, THREE sides are included (so many choices) , a roll/cornbread, plus a piece of cake! Three portions were just right! It was a Tuesday evening around six and though it was busy, it was still very chill. The service was attentive but non invasive... Just an overall great experience!! The meatloaf was delicious! I couldn't believe the amount of food we had for the cost of around $20 before tip. (There were two of us) The server informed us that they are doing a remodel soon, so check if they're open... Apparently after Father's Day they'll be finished. But if they are, this is a for sure check-it-out spot if you want real food. It was a bit of a drive off I-64.. (maybe five minutes) but well worth it. We had no issues parking a large flat bed truck. Unfortunately the ice cream shack wasn't open... Maybe next time!

The orginal Bonnie cafe in Bonnie got a makeover and added on. The traditional look is gone and more updated look with a newer traditional look of other places. Kids and I always loved the fresh made French fries but those are no longer available and now off the new menu. Very sad to see those go. Bkfast food still tastes the same kids said, but also ordered 1 large cheese pizza for 2 and they complained the crust was doughy I tried a bite and yes it was. I was brought out mashed potatoes that had dried thick crusty edges in it. They did replace. This was our family favorite place to eat, Bring back the home made fries. 2 Waitresses were exceptionally great. Denise and Kayla, had it not been for them we would not gotten recorders or not been able to pay my bill. I was ignored by 4 others while I was at the register to pay and 1 stood right there by me. Not good otherwise Bonnie cafe has always been a family environment to go and enjoy home cooked food with out the cooking yourself. It did say the are in need of help and hiring so hopefully soon they will have the hired help they so need.

May 13, 2024 - I picked up an omelet here on my way through town. I am from Virginia and had to make a last minute trip to Ina, IL. I missed a connecting flight on Sunday evening and could not fly out to St. Louis until Monday morning. I had a meeting scheduled for that morning that I obviously did not make it to. I generally try to avoid fast food and gas station food, so I searched for a local place. When I found that Bonnie Cafe was right on my route, it made for an easy decision. I had some special requests for the order, due to dietary restrictions. The gals there were pleasant and handle the requests well. The omelet was delicious and hit the spot after such a hectic day of traveling!!

Bland food, small servings, bland dessert. I thought ordering from this diner, you would get some fat pieces of chicken, loads of mash potatoes, and even more veggies. Nope! My family and I ordered the fried chicken meal with double mashed potatoes (you get 3 sides), green beans, and a dessert. When I opened my box after it being ordered for take out and getting home, I was utterly disappointed. The chicken in the to-go box were the smallest I had ever been served in a restaurant. A leg and a thigh, I thought: “I can only hope it tastes good!” Absolutely not. I have never had a bland chicken in my life, but now I can say that I have. You might be wondering about the mashed potatoes. Well, you remember in school, when you get one scoop of rice or one scoop of beans? Yeah. That’s what that was. One scoop of what tasted like insta-mash. Or the add water potato flakes. Even though it was specified as double potatoes, still, one scoop. The green beans? The same. One scoop of canned green beans. How do I know the potatoes were instant and the green beans were canned? Well first of all texture and taste, duh. Second, god I feel like the crowd should say it with me. 1... 2... 3... BLAND! That was fun. Anyways, yeah, I pass by this place going to and from work every day and it’s PACKED every time. God only knows why. Well, I do, but if I say, then all the white people in the town would be...
