Zae's Classic Chicago Hot Dogs & Polish — Restaurant in Bonus Township

By accident I ran across this Gem located at 6172 Logan Avenue here in Belvidere, Illinois. Zae's Classic Chicago Dogs is the perfect addition to Belvidere's Gastronomic Offerings !!!! Why drive the hour into Chicago when the flavor of Chicago is just blocks away ??

I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with the owners. Marlon is a Hot Dog Crazy kinda Guy..Just like Me !!.Hahaha And their's is a true Mom & Pop business..their son's name is Zae..Mom and Pops are always the best kind !!

We talked about Hot Dog Suppliers, Cooking Styles, Topping Choices, Places we've eaten and about everything else Hot Dog Related !!

And I sampled as many items that my belly had room to do so.

Every item was outstanding !!

They have went to great lengths to replicate the exact flavors we all crave..and their hard work paid off.. close your eyes and you'd swear you were in Chicago !! I like it when the owner's think about the customers..plenty of Seating, Umbrellas over the Tables, Spotless and Clean Waiting and Parking Areas. They take pride in their operation because it's truly a Family Affair. My Food was all Amazing..the flavors were Spot On. No Cheap Imitation Stuff..this is the Real Thing !!

If I was you, I'd stop and try your favorite, and make up your own mind, I'm sure...

🛑NOT your typical food truck!❤️ most of the time when you go to food trucks, they take your order. They slide the screen shut, and they shuffle through orders well, that's not how my experience was today. The lady who took my order was courteous, kind and polite. Once the order was taken and she had given it to whomever was cooking, the gentleman proceeded to have a conversation with me. He a sked me where her was from, how I was doing and just held a very polite conversation. Now, I know when people are slammed and food trucks get busy, that's not always a possibility, but he did go out of his way to have the conversation with me. It was clean around the food truck. The counters weren't sticky on the outside. Believe it or not the inside looked clean as well for what I saw. Now if we get to talking about how the chicago dog tasted, I am a Chicago Dog fanatic we have them sent in on dry ice at least once a month, all the way to Iowa right from vienna beef. I know my chicago dogs, and this is one hundred percent an authentic chicago dog! My husband's lucky that I love him because I almost ate his hotdog on the way home. If I see this truck around, I will be going back.Thanks again for the amazing food...

To say the least I was way beyond disappointed ordered what I thought was a Chicago dog, I just simply asked for no relish and peppers, when I retrieved my Chicago dog from the window, I asked where my tomato and pickle were, the lady smiled and said oh we don't have any. I was charged $9.00 and should have been told upfront if ingredients were NOT available, before I paid, instead of asking for a refund, I just accepted the Supposed Chicago dog as is and walked back to my place of work to eat. When I bit into my hot dog, it tasted and looked as though it was not even cooked, I pitched it into the garbage. Unfortunately, I was not able to go back and ask for a refund because of being at work during the Sycamore car show. But I would like for management to reach out and refund me.
