Staff was very friendly, prices are comparable to other same type of restaurants in the area, but the food wasn't quite there for my family. Really a shame as it is far closer than the others in the area.
So my family and I went in to place an order, left it and were told it would be 20-25 minutes, that's fine we sat in a booth, which was a bit sticky, and watched some videos with the kids while we waited. After about 25 minutes someone at the front shouted out "Robert" several times but I didn't think anything of it as that isn't my name.
After another ten minutes the shouted it again, and I looked up and they eventually motioned me over. This was odd as the person who took my order asked for my name and I left my last name which the person working repeated back to me so not sure what the issue was with that. But I believe that is probably why my order was somewhat cold when we got it home.
The beef and broccoli was great, everyone enjoyed it. The cashew chicken however, was rather sweet rather than savory which isn't what I'm used to nor my family. The chicken within it seemed to be mostly breading rather than chicken, though the addition of mushrooms and baby carrots was good.
The fried rice though was Yellow. I've never had yellow fried rice, it's always been brown, due to the soy/oyster sauce that is used when frying it, but this was yellow. I googled it and learned about "golden" rice and using turmeric, but it didn't taste like much different from the white rice, so wouldn't recommend.
Overall I really think it's worth a shot to try it out, the price is comparable to others. I would just caution those not used to yellow fried rice to skip that. The beef and broccoli was good, and the cashew chicken was alright. But probably not going to return as the differences from what my family is used to with the same price as others...
Read moreFirst, I am picky with Chinese food. I do feel the prices are a little high and the portions are not as large as you get as other places. We ordered the chicken/broccoli dinner combo w/ fried rice and an egg roll, beef szechuan dinner combo w/ fried rice and an egg roll and the crab rangoons. The fried rice had decent flavor but it was yellow and did not look like the fried rice you would get at most Chinese restaurants. There was little chicken and beef in both the combos but the flavor was decent, it could have been better. The eggs rolls were fried very well but did not have very much filling. DO NOT get the crab rangoons. You will be very happy when you see how large they are but the lack of filling is extremely disappointing, though they too were fried well. We will order from here again (one more chance) and I will try another basic, General Tso's but get the white rice in lieu of the fried rice. We may try another appetizer but if those fail to impress we will stick with our other go to Chinese restaurants. I do hope that they succeed and I am glad to see that so many other were happy with...
Read moreWalked in and you could immediately smell the food cooking. So many places these days are cooking with 'Chef Micro' as the head chef but not here. Ordered the wonton soup, the coconut soup and ribs as an appetizer. The ribs had no business being so good. Tender, fresh, saucy, flavorful... Can't go wrong. I will definitely order those again almost any time I go. Entree was a teriyaki chicken which came with plain white rice and the orange chicken with fried rice. The orange chicken was fried perfectly and not overly cooked and stringy like a lot of other places in the area. The crust of the chicken was still crunchy as I made it home 20 minutes later. The teriyaki had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Grilled with a nice balanced taste of char and meat.
Bill was higher than desired but given the fact I wasn't disappointed as most other places in the boonsboro hagerstown area... this will be somewhere I go again.
Might need to call a few times if you aren't showing up to the store....
