We saw the great reviews for this restaurant and the associated hotel and decided to try it with our guests. What a disappointment! While it has a beautiful location and the decor looks recently redone, everything else needed help. There were only two waitresses running the whole restaurant (including the bar) and one of them said she normally only handles the front desk for the hotel. As a result, service was abysmally slow. Besides that, the menu was pricey and very small with only two entrees (a mushroom ravioli or fish and chips) and they were out of the fish and chips, on a Sunday night! There were 5 specials, all but one were shellfish dishes, and they were also out of one of the options for sides, which the waitress did not know until she brought the meals out. Not only were our "hot" meals only lukewarm, but when we asked for tartar sauce to go with the fried shellfish, we had to wait nearly 10 minutes for pre-packaged tartar sauce that I'd have expected if we were in a low-end diner. Cocktails were good, but they had no drink menu whatsoever (not a wine or beer list, not a non-alcoholic drink list, nor a cocktail menu) and took nearly 20 minutes to come out.
Overall, if we had gone to this restaurant anticipating more of a roadside diner experience, I probably would have been unimpressed but not felt it worth a review. As it is, the website and branding of the restaurant plus the few reviews we found had us expecting a fairly fancy dinner experience, and we were in for a...
Read moreWe travel to enjoy the local offerings. The website show delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. We reserved our dinner and arrived on time seated immediately, which was nice. The white staff was pleasant and attentive. We ordered several things off the menu to get a taste of the cuisine. Instructions were followed, and the courses came one by one. Then we realize that each course was being prepared from a frozen bag or stock that had been sitting on a burner for hours or possibly days. If you’ve ever eaten gumbo, you know that it is made with a roux. If you’ve ever made roux, you know when it’s burnt. It was disappointing and downright criminal to serve that lobster and andouille gumbo to a customer. We also had crabcakes that came straight out of a bag in a freezer and dropped into a fryer .
The next morning we opted for their breakfast ready to eat because our day was kind of full. It was nothing like what they depicted on their website. There was nobody there cooking everything was put in a steam warmer. They did have fresh fruit. Unfortunately, as it happens often with breakfast offerings, like this, the crowd was unkempt and unruly with children running about while their bedraggled parents sat trying to get enough coffee in themselves to deal with their day. That’s not really the resort’s fault that people don’t know how to keep their children, but it’s not how I want to...
Read moreThe food was excellent!!!! My husband had one of the specials, lobster mac and cheese and it was delicious-full of flavor, savory, and light all at the same time. I had a Ceasar salad with shrimp. Unfortunately, we waited over an hour and a half for our food. Our 11 year old son's kids meal did not come out with ours. His meal didn't come out until after we were done eating our meals. If you've ever dined with kids, you know they are hungry right when they sit down to order! Honestly, this wouldnt be okay with any group of diners! We were not happy with the service! I voiced my concerns with extreme long wait and meals not coming out together. They did comp the kids meal and gave him some ice cream, then we waited a lonnnnng time for the check. I hope they can figure out the timing of seating with the kitchen... because the food and atmosphere is incredible! Our server was spread too thin as well-they needed another person waiting on tables! We are staying at the hotel and it's lovely, though we wasted a lot of time waiting on table service during our first...
