If I could rate this place 0 stars, I honestly would. Im not one to complain about food, because I’m not necessarily picky, but this food was awful. Their pricing is outrageous for the quality of the dish. My family and I came here to enjoy dinner, seeing that it had high reviews we had higher hopes. We ordered the pickled wings as an appetizer, and they were not even EDIBLE. they were extremely chewy, overcooked on the inside, with a crunchy coding which was essentially equivalent to sand. Like crack your teeth. We had expressed to our sever that we could not eat these and asked to send them back. For our entrees we ordered two of the spicy chicken sandwiches, the shrimp scampi, and the kids chicken tenders. The person in our party who ordered the tenders immediately said that they were just awful and he couldn’t even eat them. The rest of the table tried them, and unfortunately not to our surprise they were absolutely terrible. So incredibly bland and we had all agreed that they tasted like CARDBOARD. They were WAY over cooked on the inside, and somehow the breading was undercooked? It was like they were microwaved. As for the chicken sandwhiches, they were very bland and quickly fell apart. We told our server, that the chicken tenders were terrible and he responds with “I don’t think you guys know how we make our chicken here”. Which wasn’t a very validating response, and ALSO my family and I OWN a house in maine and eat “maine food” all the time. Our server sent over the chef, who kindly accommodated the chicken tenders and brought out salmon…….and STILL CHARGED for the chicken tenders. Not to mention the service was way beyond sub par. He didn’t check on us when we got our food, he was clearly upset when we politely told him about our reasoning for not liking the food, and when we said thanks he didn’t reply. THEN after we tried explaining to the chef WHY our food was LITERALLY in-edible, he literally starts arguing with everyone at the table about why the food actually WAS good and WAS high quality and how everything was “made to order”, but how does that make sense when our wings came out less than 4 minutes after we ordered and came literally before our drinks. To conclude, this place was absolutely ridiculous, the servers were rude, the chef argued with us, and the food was terrible. I never leave reviews on restaurants let alone reviews this long, but I want to save the next person from...
Read moreI've waited a short time before leaving this review because I was at a loss for words... Upon arrival, we were told the first floor was reserved and to seat ourselves on the upper bar level. Upon doing so we were asked to move three times, that each table was reserved, though three-quarters of the tables were empty. Embarrassed and frustrated we point out that we did what was instructed and to please show us where to sit. Finally settling in at the bar, a lovely conversation ensued with the barkeep who explained the greeter at the desk was new that day and misinformed us..... All's well that ends well - or so one would think! We order our drinks and meals... Upon returning from making a call, I was informed by my husband that the cook came rushing in, being very obtrusive and boisterous "Who was seating themselves, complaining about being moved!?". The barkeep was quick to act, stating the misunderstanding was all set, everything was fine. Not five minutes later he's back, both arrogant and aggressive. I have to admit, it was like a scene from one of that crazy chef cooking showed, all wide-eyed and mussed. I assume he thought we would be intimated by his culinary genius persona. Perplexed at this juncture and explaining that we were only doing as told, he rudely continued to berate and went on to moc me, in place of apologizing. The Barkeep all the while not stating a word out of fear of psychotic behavior he set forth. - A simple apology would have sufficed - We left though the barkeep asked us to stay, paid for our drinks and bread (yes, they charge for bread), and went upon our merry way... But first, the barkeep did 'strongly' advise we take a ride down along the water's edge, stating it was not to be missed. She was correct, it led us to the most wonderful restaurant, outdoor seating, overlooking the bay, and the most stunning sunset! the food was fantastic as was the service. Would highly recommend bypassing this establishment to seek out one on the...
Read moreWe asked around at our hotel and several people suggested the Carriage House. We called and made reservations for 7:30 and we were told to come at 7:45. We promptly walked in at 7:43 and waited only a couple of minutes. We were seated next to a couple of people from Arizona and had a good conversation with them while waiting for our server. The kitchen was busy as was the staff. It did take a while before we got waters and drinks. It took a little while to get our server introduced to us also. Our server was Amelia, an Irish woman with a delightful accent. She took our order and whisked away. While we were waiting for our dinners the couple next to us got served, unfortunately the order was wrong, the couple had ordered a hamburger and instead got the hanger steak entree. After chatting with the server she returned their hanger steak. 20 minutes later our order showed up and my wife's scampi looked great as did my hanger steak. Except the steak was cold. The potatoes and green beans were warm, so my server was horrified and took the plate back to the kitchen, when it was returned I now had a medium well hanger steak instead of medium rare. Not really a huge issue but disappointed to say the least. It was a little bit chewy. My server wanted to send it back but my wife was almost done eating and it was getting late. To make up for the steak I thought we would try the creme brulee. It was just OK. All in all I am not sure we would eat here again based on the price and experience. I am pretty sure the hanger steak i was served was the same steak served to the couple next to us. Our server did try to remove the entree, but mysteriously the owner or management was no longer around. However Amelia was a treat and made our experience...
