Visited this BBQ place since I was just driving by. Walked in and ordered at the counter then chose to sit outside at the picnic tables. It was outside with a cornhole game, lots of tables, and a nice grassy area. I ordered the pulled pork plate with Mac and cheese. My significant other order the two meat plate with smoked chicken and brisket along with onion rings. To be completely honest, the meat was all dry. It wasn’t too bad with the BBQ sauce. The cornbread that came with it was also pretty dry. The Mac and cheese was good and the onion rings were average. The two meat plate also came with a piece of garlic bread which was also average. The smoked chicken came on the bone which was unexpected and was more pink than I would have liked. Overall the atmosphere was good. Service wise, we were prompted to tip when we ordered so we did but aside from brining us a bag of our food in a to-go brown bag (after we said we were eating there), they did not do anything else that a normal waiter making tips does (did not take our order at the table, bring or refill drinks, or bus the table). There was ice cream sold there too (no soft serve) but the portions are huge for the price so no room for desert anyways. $15 for the pulled pork plate with cornbread and choice of side and $25 for the two meat combo with one side. Definitely got my moneys worth, just wish it...
Read moreWe visited the establishment today with the intention of enjoying some seafood and barbecue, but unfortunately, our experience was less than satisfactory. The seafood dishes were not of the expected quality. The shrimp appeared to be frozen and not fresh, and they were coated in breading that included the tail shell, which was an unpleasant surprise. The whole belly clams and scallops were gritty with sand and overcooked. The tartar sauce seemed to be primarily mayonnaise, and the coleslaw lacked flavor. The barbecue items also fell short of expectations. It appeared that they had been cooked well in advance, possibly a week ago, and then reheated in an oven. The smokiness of the barbecue had an overpowering and unpleasant flavor, as if it had been smoked using an incinerator rather than traditional wood. We are puzzled by the establishment's high star rating, as our experience was far from positive. It is possible that the ice cream is a popular item that contributes to the positive reviews. However, we will not be returning to this establishment, especially considering the significant cost of $110 for a disappointing meal. It is important to note that the establishment does not accurately represent Southern barbecue, and many individuals could achieve better results at home. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with...
Read moreThe meal was disappointing to say the least. As someone who grew up fairly "southern", this place should be ashamed to use the word.
We ordered the loaded Mac, and a three meat plate with two sides.
Chicken looks like it was boiled first, then grilled with an "essence" of smoke. Extremely dry and inedible.
The baked beans taste like they come from a can, and definitely were not cooked enough. Scalding hot, and still tough.
The brisket is probably the worst I have ever had. Unless it is SLATHERED in sauce, it's so dry. Lacking almost any flavor at all. I'm sure canned brisket would be better.
The pulled pork was also extremely dry and inedible without sauce. Thank goodness it was served on the Mac and cheese, which was good by itself.
One of the smoked sausages was good, while the other one was dry in the middle.
Cornbread was quite dry without adding a fair amount of butter.
Cajun fries were yummy, but you don't go to a barbeque place for fries.
Everything was served on paper plates with plastic utensils. They won't give you a glass of water, or a fountain drink. Everything is in a bottle.
For $69.95, I expected much better food. I'm leaving with a half full plate and an upset stomach.
Do yourself a favor and go to Market Basket for a better...
