I am giving a two star review. The food was awesome and greatly priced. The reason I am giving such low stars is because of the incident the night we came in. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Nancy I'm guessing is the manager was there and she was amazing. Loved our baby, walked around with her, snuggled her, that was at 9 oclock at night when Nancy took her to walk around with her. She ended up leaving, say goodbye as she knew the gentleman we were with very well. We had about 6 people in our group, ordering multiple pitchers of beer upon pitchers of beer. When it came to be about 11 o'clock at night the people at the bar began to light up a cigarette. We we're questioning it because to our knowledge it was illegal. We let it go even with our baby sitting next to us. At about 11;15 they said last call. I checked on here to see what time they closed and it said 2am. So we we're all confused. We ordered another pitcher and went with it. All while another group of people had lit up their cigarettes, so there was about 5 people with lit cigarettes along with the two workers. Vicky and someone else. We had asked why cigarettes were being smoked in an establishment and they said, because we are closed. This was at about 11:30 that they said they were closed. I was livid at this point and so was everyone else at our table because it wreaked of cigarettes and smoke. Our baby was covered thank God but besides the point. It is illegal to smoke in an establishment. About 5 more minutes pass we ask for another pitcher and they said sorry we can't we did a last call, and about 10 minutes after we had asked THEY BROUGHT OUT THE TABLE THAT WAS SMOKING A MUG OF BEER!?! We we're all like what the hell. So our buddy goes up and asks for another pitcher and she gives it to us only because she gave them one, and he asked what time they closed and she said 12... But we thought they closed at 11:30?!? That's why they could smoke in there. But my fiance goes up to them nicely and asks them to put their cigarettes out and the gentleman at the table did but the girl butts in and says, 'I will but that baby isn't supposed to be in here pass 9." So I told her, we have had her in here since 9 with the Nancy here and it's ilelgal to smoke here. So she went off calling me a dumb b* and I needed to shut the f up.. and on and on. Someone who knew Nancy said I will be talking to Nancy about this and she goes "Nancy will smoke here too," so he said I bet not with people here like this and she shut up and went back to vacuuming while we were in there. We all felt very disrespected, and gross after walking out smelling like cigarettes. We are not happy about the workers treated us after the other group began smoking and still serving them even after last call while telling us we couldn't have another pitcher. It is against the smoke free law...
Read moreWe decided to dine in at Joe's Place on Friday night based on a recommendation of a coworker. And I read the reviews, the bad ones and the good ones, before we drove here. It took us almost an hour to get here from our home, but the long drive was worth it 👌🏻😁. Joe's Place is a small town restaurant located in Saranac, MI. And it is true when we opened the door and walked inside, all eyes (diners and servers) were on us 🤣, just for a moment. It felt like we were in the old country restaurant setting with country songs played.
Susan, our server, greeted us and offered to sit down anywhere we wanted. She's very knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations of menu items. We ordered all-you-can-eat pollock fish dinner (comes with fries and coleslaw/cottage cheese) for the three of us, onion rings, cheese curds (this one Susan's recommendation since we love spicy food), and fried gizzards. We didn't wait too long when appetizers came first, then our dinner. OMG 😳!!! We love ❤️ all the food we ordered!!! We all got second basket came in for all-you-can-eat fish, then the cheese curds are fantastic, love the homemade spicy sauce. The gizzards are tasty too. The fish was not fishy at all 👍🏻. A small town restaurant with great food and service. And Susan even bagged our leftovers, which we didn't expect. Thank you so much 🙏🏻!!!
We will definitely come back in the future to try other menu...
Read moreWent in with expectations of matching the Social House in GR’s energy, and was extremely disappointed. Slow service as well, which my friend agreed on when she went another time. The menu isn’t very big either, and I asked the waitress if they planned on being more like Social House GR, and she said no. Why even change the name to Social House? Why not just keep it Joes? Not much changed interior wise as well. I was truly hoping for something different to change the community for the better, make things more exciting for the younger generation of Saranac. Disappointed as this could have been a huge opportunity for not only the owners but for everyone wanting a cool spot to go to close to home. They do have good pizza tho. Left this same review on their facebook page and the response I got made me dislike the place even more. You shouldn’t be guilt tripping customers for not liking their experience. Just because I’m not agreeing with most of the locals that are happy nothing changed doesn’t mean I can’t give constructive criticism/feedback. I truly think the businesses should consider change, change makes everyone uneasy but it doesn’t mean it...
