We drove by Deb‘s Bristol Diner and noted groups of people milling about outside. A short time later we drove by again and the wait seemed to subside so we stopped for breakfast.
Thanks to the locals at counter, they made room for us at the counter. All of the tables inside were taken, we were fortunate to get the remaining two counter seats. On Sunday, the day of our visit, they only serve breakfast until 1 p.m. They had three specials and a full menu.
This was a tough decision, sitting at the counter we got to see many dishes coming out of the kitchen. The homemade raisin French toast looked delicious, as did the home fries and hollandaise covered eggs being served.
It is hard to pass up a homemade Maine blueberry muffin, so we shared a grilled one as a breakfast appetizer. The anticipation was mouth watering as it sat in the window with butter on the side, just waiting to be served. The inside had a creamy flavored texture and my first thought was it was not baked thoroughly, but I was wrong, somehow Deb’s has managed to make an airy, creamy and delicious muffin.
I ordered the homemade hash, farm fresh eggs over easy, bacon and a homemade biscuit.
The hash had peppers, onions, carrots, hash browns and lots of corned beef. It was pretty good, but I like it with potatoes. The eggs were perfect and the bacon was crispy, just how I like it. The biscuit was outstanding, I asked for the recipe, but was told no. The recipe was said to be ranked #6 in a Paula Dean biscuit contest.
Our waitress was very attentive with water and coffee refills and conversation.
If you find yourself in Bristol, this is definitely a worthwhile stop for breakfast…and I imagine any other meal as well!
Well done...
Read moreEXCELLENT food! Yum! The 3 stars are for the service. The server was nice and good service EXCEPT.... two of us decided to split one meal. I told the server that the two of us are sharing one meal. The server said she'll bring us two plates. I ordered an omelet. The server asked what kind of toast I wanted. I asked her what kind of toasts do they have. She rattled off a list including a whole grain with sunflower seeds and I picked that one. The other two ladies in the group put in their orders and were asked which toast they wanted. We got our meals and everything was DELICIOUS! Then the bill came. My bill for one delicious omelet that came with homefries and toast, along with two coffees came to over $28. I thought that was kinda of high. The server informed me that there was a $3 CHARGE FOR SPLITTING THE MEAL and the TOAST WAS AN EXTRA $2 because we picked the wholegrain. Never, before, during, or after ordering or when we were presented with the bill, did the server mention the extra charges. Thinking about it now, the $3 charge for splitting must be per person! Along with the toast.. per person. We should have been informed of the...
Read moreNot sure how my daughter and I ended up at Deb’s since our Google search did not meet what we were in the mood for when it comes to this spot. Brunch, Mimosas, ambience, a lively Atmosphere etc… We walk into this tiny, tiny, mom’s diner (no mimosas 😖) nevertheless our names on the list, we are handed a buzzer and outside we go to wait. As hunger starts to settle in we are speeding through Google for what we wanted.
3mints in and there goes the buzzer 🫣 Laughing, shoulders shrugging, and hungry we reluctantly sir at a bar-top (no comfort)
