Shackett's Seafood Shack — Restaurant in Bristol

My family and I went last weekend and it was moderately busy. Half of us got our ice cream pretty quick. First issue: my ice cream had pretty bad freezer burn and a funny taste. Second issue: my younger sister (who coincidentally recommended the place), her husband, and my older sister and niece waited for 25 minutes to get their ice cream and small order of french fries. Meanwhile, 13 people showed up, ordered, and got their ice cream and food. My sisters went up and asked about the status several times and just got clueless faces and nonanswers. Finally the manager talked to the (seemingly) 12 year old employee and he said he didn't realize he needed to make anything!! Then he made the wrong order twice before delivering the correct order. I'm all for giving young adults a shot but you either need to train them better or ensure that someone is there to help out. Will not...

Skip it. Overpriced freezer burned child portions. The fish in thr fish and chips was a boxed grocery store quality and about 3 inches by 4 inches...smaller than a pop tart and underwhelming. The fries are freezer burned and chewy, the clam belly meal was just sad. There were about 6 burned crispy clumps paired with the chewy fries and nowhere near worth over $22. The lobster roll was ok, but once again..very small. The clam chowder was not even a cup, it was clearly canned and served in a condiment container that you usually get duck sauce in at a Chinese takeout,and I've heard the ice cream here us in very small portions as well. I can't remember the last time I regretted eating somewhere, but this was it. The service was lovely, and no offense to the hard working teenagers working in that hot shack with the friers going, but we all wished we hadn't eaten there. The fried clams were charcoal--way over fried. The chicken tenders were pretty good, and the hot dog was... well, it's a hot dog. Thin wimpy fries. I greatly appreciated the server who steered us away from some ice cream flavors because those were "too artificial tasting" (e.g., southern peach), but we found our ultimately-chosen four flavors to be similarly fake.
