Avellino’s is the perfect little neighborhood pizzeria. Their wood fired pizzas have a great char. The Zucchine Fritte were a surprise! The batter was so light and crispy, these are the best starter. The arancini was just ok, the rice filling didn’t have a lot of flavor in my opinion. I’ve definitely had more exciting arancini. The eggplant parmesan was also great though. It had a nice crispy outer layer and the eggplant was sliced so thinly. We also took cannoli to go and those were tasty as well! The service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is a quaint little bar and dining area with a patio area for nice weather days. They do have fans and umbrellas out there for the heat and sun. Parking can be iffy but be sure to check towards the back of the building.

This review is for takeout only. We ordered online at 7:45 pm on a Saturday and it was ready in 20 minutes. Here’s what we got: - Burrata ($12.50): Good, but probably not worth $12.50. - Eggplant Parmigiana ($16.50): Average, especially for the price. I’ve definitely had better in the Atlanta area. Came with a side salad which was literally lettuce and tomatoes. At least give me some cucumbers, maybe even some onions. - Create a Pizza with mushrooms & pineapple ($12.50 + $2 for toppings): The sauce was super good and sweet. Again, not sure $14.50 for a 12-inch pizza is worth it. The Create a Pizza should come with at least 2 toppings built-in. Expensive for not the best food. The pizza was good, but everything else was eh.

Just got pickup after seeing such great reviews - that obviously was a lie. We ordered Arancini & a margherita pizza, something simple. We get some sort of red sauce pizza with two pieces of basil & and blotchy & burnt cheese (burnt as in charcoal). The pizza was also ridiculously small! The slices were awfully cut too. Now the Arancini? The flavors were *decent* but way too oily (it's fried so expected but still way too excessive). There are plenty of places in ATL that are way better than here - save a trip, your money & your taste buds and go somewhere else.

I was excited to try out Avellino's but, unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. I had been recommended that Avellino's was worth a visit and the pizza was really worth it. I ordered a pizza on a Saturday night, and they seemed pretty busy based on how prickly they were on the phone. They didn't know what a "supreme" pizza was but luckily had all the ingredients when I listed each, one-by-one. Come on... Anyway, that wasn't really that big of a deal because being grumpy or a little terse isn't a deal breaker and maybe they didn't know what supreme was. I went and picked up the pizza and cheese bread and it was ready when I got there. Pizza was about 18 dollars for a 12 inch pie. When I got the pie home - i live less then 2 miles away - it was cold and not even close to cooked all the way through. Raw dough at the center, onions still pretty crispy. I was really bummed out because I had pretty high expectations and a 20 dollar pizza should deliver on the price point. Cheese bread was solid but I honestly don't think I would roll the dice on trying Avellino's again to see if this was just...

Updating my review after my most recent visit -

Shrinkflation has hit this place with a bang! They raised entree prices, lowered the portions by a LOT, and took away the free salad that came with every entree. This has become fine dining prices without any additional staff or service. They are super nice but when the same 2 employees are hostesses, servers, and busboys they can’t keep up with what a $100 2 person meal requires. Portions were shockingly smaller, I mean my penne vodka had maybe 15-20 noodles in it. Lots of sauce, I was left wondering if they ran out of pasta. Cheesy Garlic bread is smaller and was mostly bread. Nobody checked on us for drink refills or dessert. I’m disappointed - I used to love this place.

———

Food is always great, service is friendly but the staff and kitchen is absolute chaos on weekends. Some order would be nice as it gets so busy that people tend to seat themselves, orders get missed etc.

However staff is really friendly and has that local neighborhood feel so I’ll...

The manager, Michael, was the rudest I've ever experienced from any sort of restaurant employee. We placed an online order and picked it up, we got home realizing only one of the 3 pizzas we ordered had been given to us and the rest of the food was completely cold. I called and Michael answered, didn't apologize once and was beyond rude about it and told me I could come get the pizzas they forgot if i wanted them. I called back so shocked at how rude to conversation went hoping to talk to the owner who has always been so kind and he responds "well I'm the manager actually and listen lady what do you want me to do, I'm short one guy and the dude who was supposed to give you the pizza forgot it okay?" Still no apology I had to ask to be refunded for their mistakes to which he seemed even more burdened. Sadly, never going to support this business again thanks to Michael's lack of management/ people skills, I mean shockingly...
