Been driving by this place for years and finally checked out the menu online - looked promising, so when it was my choice for dinner out I chose Chrysanthi's. It was a very good choice.
Service was outstanding. Don't remember our waitress' name but she said she had been there since they started. Spot on recommendations, and made a point of checking if we wanted something to snack on as one in our party ordered a calzone which has significant cooking time. I enjoyed a glass of malbec and and it didn't seem overly long before the meals arrived.
Food was very good. Out table had a veggie calzone, chicken marsala, and veal marsala. My wife said the calzone was the best she ever had. I had a bite and it was great. I'm told the chicken marsala was "really good", and I, having spent 15 years working kitchens in my youth was impressed that all meals came out piping hot, with no evidence of anything sitting, despite the vastly different cook times. A couple cannoli and some nice heated baklava rounded out a very good meal.
A couple minor quibbles, which will in no way stop me from returning. My veal marsala tasted great - sauce was spot on and the pasta was perfect. The veal tasted good, but it was mechanically tenderized, not pounded. That's a choice which I think is valid for a veal parm sub, but not for a sauteed entrée. I think veal should have more of a bite and texture, not be something I can cut easily with a fork. Just my opinion. Second, menu prices for ALL seafood was "market price". Understandable and frankly preferred for clams because you know they're fresh, but for fish & chips? My wife did not get seafood for that reason - it's awkward to ask for the market price. Makes you feel cheap. Worked out great though - best calzone ever. Current pricing posted at the host station would be nice - if there was something I didn't see it.
All in all, don't make the mistake I made, driving by this place for 15 years without stopping in. Chrysanthi's will be in our regular restaurant rotation...
Read moreOn Monday, July 15, 2024 we visited Chrysanthi's Restaurant for the 1st Time.
I ordered a Veal Parmesan Sub, with a side of French fries and a Pepsi. The sub was toasted with a satisfying portion of tasty Veal, smothered with tomato sauce and a hearty portion of the melted cheese. The side of fries was very large, and nice and crispy just the way I like them. Two of us shared the fries, and we still took half the order home. If there are two of you that want fries, share an order, you won't need more than one order.
It was 6:00 pm on a Monday, and the dining room was full with only 2 tables left. The noise sound volume from all the people was off the charts, very loud and annoying. It was so loud I put in earplugs used for rock music concerts and they didn't help cut the volume much.
Next time I will eat in the bar, where there wasn't any loud people trying to talk over other people seated at tables 10-20 feet away or screaming babies and little kids walking around in the dining room. When will new parents learn to control their kids, like in the old-days, "when kids were seen, but not heard" ?
The food was good, as was the portions, and the service was good. My only complaint was the loud, obnoxious, people and their screaming kids, which the restaurant has no control over.
I would recommend going here in the middle of the afternoon around 2-3 PM between the feeding rush-hours, or if the parking lot looks busy like it was when we arrived, sit in the bar if there are any seats available. On the Monday night of our visit by 7 pm the bar was full, with no seats left.
MY TAB WAS $15.50 Veal Parmesan Sub $7.95 French Fries $3.75 Pepsi $27.20 subtotal $1.70 (MA meal tax) $6.00 Tip $34.90 TOTAL
They have a large free parking lot on the side and wheelchair handy-cap parking right in front, plus a wheel-chair ramp to...
Read moreMy family moved to the area less than three years ago, and we've been on the lookout for local spots to make our go-to places for the rare occasion of a date night. We finally found our #1 spot: Chrysanthi's! We first visited in the fall of 2024, sitting out on the patio, enjoying delicious food and tasty cocktails. Our service was spot on, thanks to a great male waiter. We returned in February and sat at the bar, where Leslie, another exceptional waitress and bartender, took care of us.
Our third visit was last week, this time with our two little ones in tow, and it didn’t go quite as planned. As soon as we sat down, the waitress greeted us and took our order. But within seconds of her walking away, our 2-year-old vomited all over himself. It was cringeworthy and I was mortified. This has never happened before and it's my worst nightmare. My husband found the waitress to tell her what happened and apologize. She immediately came over and I began to apologize. She told me there was no need to apologize and asked us how she could help. I was almost in tears but managed to keep it together because she shared that she also had kids and understood that things like this happen. She truly sprang into "mom mode," offering comfort and support.
As we scrambled to clean up, she insisted that we shouldn’t worry about it and focus on taking care of my son. We were able to handle things quickly and left, but I can’t stop thinking about how sweet and understanding she was. I’m so grateful for her kindness and Chrysanthi’s exceptional service. Their food is amazing, and the staff makes it that much better. We’re thrilled to have found...
