I have eaten many many crabs in my life and I will say these are the absolute worse by far! I ordered 1 dozen large females for $70 and 2 ears of corn. I never would imagine that they would be cold, dry, very mushy, most of legs were missing from the shell, they were so light weight I couldn’t believe my eyes!! They felt empty! The corn was even the worse and I didn’t think corn can be bad like that. It seemed like these were old returned crabs they swapped and tried to recook and it failed. To charge $70 for the quality of the crabs they gave me was absolutely despicable for business! I called to report my concern and ask for a refund, and the manager who said her name was “Melissa” told me that they do not give refunds. They only can give store credit or cook another batch. I told her I did not see that on my receipt nor was I told that cause most establishments let you know upon purchase. Of course, after tasting these bad crabs, I do not want anything else from them. It’s a safety hazard in my opinion. Customer service was below par and she just didn’t seem to care which makes dealing with them even worse. I refuse to pay $70 for the bad quality I received and it’s not fair that I have no choice with reconciliation with them. I will dispute this cause it’s wrong and I didn’t get what I paid for at all! It’s also an inconvenience to a customer. There was not one apology or concern - just a lack of everything which is disheartening!! There should always be a quality check when you are charging the amount you are charging. These were not large, they were mixed smalls. And they were bad crabs which is why after a few, I realized that they were too bad to consume as I didn’t want to get sick. Nothing was fresh about them. They looked very dark and diseased. They are crabs that you don’t sell and throw away. There’s no way that they didn’t know that they were selling bad crabs. Especially if they made sure that they counted exactly 12 crabs - you definitely had to see the sizes and weight when sorting this. BEWARE of dealing with them please! EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Places like Kent Island Crabs are good choices and ensure that you receive quality and consistently. This company seems to be a hit or miss and a risk. First and last time trying this place. Plus they can’t guarantee there quality which you are at risk of losing money cause they say they don’t do refunds. It should be clear communication and on the receipt if you don’t back your crabs up. NEVER AGAIN! These crabs do not even deserve...
Read moreOrdered a dozen of large males and a half dozen of medium males. Called my order in well in advance, scheduled a 4 pm pickup. Once I arrived at 4 pm and gave them the name for my order, they had to search for it for a few minutes and also requested that I tell them exactly what I ordered. It seemed a bit unorganized, but I just brushed it off and assumed they were pretty busy. Once my order was finally located, I was then told that they “messed up on my order”. They gave a half dozen of the large males in my order to someone else, so they only had the other half to give to me. They asked if I would like to substitute it with large females instead. I declined, choosing to just add another half dozen of medium males to the order instead, as the person who I was ordering for does not like female crabs. Mind you, by this time it’s now 4:15. I sat on the bench and watched several people come in and leave with their order as I patiently waited for mine, with zero communication from the several girls who were hanging around the register area engaging in high school small talk. After about another 20 unbearable minutes of that, I asked “where is my order?” One of the girls then finally went to the back and came back out with it. I asked if they added a few extra crabs to my order due to them not only messing my order up, but also because of the long wait, despite calling my order in ahead of time. I was told “no, we don’t give extra crabs.” So to sum up my experience, HORRIBLE customer service, crabs were not that impressive and they could use a lesson in professionalism and courtesy. I will NOT be...
Read moreMy family and I purchase a half bushel of crabs from here at lease 2x a month. I stop in regularly for shrimp, shrimp salad and crabby eggs during the week. My family also goes to the snowball stand multiple times a week...with that being said, today will be the last day I purchase anything from Cravin’ Crabs.
2 weeks ago, we purchased a half bushel of the medium males. After opening mushy crab after mushy crab, we chalked it up as a “bad batch” and threw more than half the box away. We did not call and complain that time because we have usually gotten great crabs from Cravin Crabs over the years.
Today, we purchased another half bushel of regular crabs. Again, we opened mushy crab after mushy crab. My mother opened a crab and complained that the meat tasted like ammonia. After we went through about 3 dozen and were only able to eat 10 crabs, we decided to call. A girl answered the phone and said “just bring them back and we will reimburse you or give you new ones”. My husband packed up the rest of the crabs and took them to the store only to be told that we would not be reimbursed nor given new crabs by the owner. The remainder of our crabs were left at the store.
After being loyal customers of Cravin Crabs as well as the snowball stand attached for the 3 years we have lived in the area, we were treated like our patronage did not matter to the owner when he turned us away and kept the remainder of our crabs with no offer for reimbursement, new crabs, or even a discount to use the next time we come to the store.
Don’t waste your money...
